With all the disappointment on the new mapless RB4 radios, we're wondering if the "older" RB1's could be ordered on a new 05 3500?

We're gettin' close Oo.

With my 2004. 5, I had to order the RB1 as a dealer installed option. With the Laramie package, I ordered the cheapest radio, which was a credit back. The dealer installed the RB1 in less than an hour, and its great.

The thing I hate the most about the navagation is you cannot adjust it while driving. I think the truck has to be in park.

No - but your speed has to be below 10MPH.

what did it end up costing you to have the RB1 installed by the dealer?
I had both an RB1 and a CD changer installed at time of delivery, and I got them to do it for $105 for both - just so it was covered under the new vehicle warranty. Otherwise, the install of the RB1 takes about 10 minutes, and can be done by anyone who knows how a screwdriver works.

The RB1 can be had for about $1350. Tell your dealer you want the RB1 installed for that price.

I have the RB4 and love it, no need for a tiny map, this unit has been right on the money each time I have used it.

Nothing wrong with the RB4, you don't need to be looking at a scrolling map while you are driving any way.

The RB4 will walk you right up to the front door if you plug in the address.

I would recommend going with the pioneer unit you posted. I have looked at that unit many times as a replacement for my now outdated Kenwood KVT911 and DVN 2100 setup. The pioneer has far better points of interest and has some really cool gauge options as well.

Good Luck

I agree, the RB4 has never been in error with the possible exception of the "Fast" or "Short" method option. Drove my friend to his nephews house out in the country at the end of miles of dirt roads this past fall. It was late at night and he swore that it was off as he had been going there for years and "Knew" where the house was. Suddenly he says,"There it is". His nephew says that after 4 years living there his wife can't find her way home the way we went. Just got back from Houston and wish I had it there is that maze of highways.
