I've got a drop in Super Stock filter from AFE in coming in the mail. I've been reading about a "homebrew" modification about a toilet flange and some pvc pipe to free up more airflow out of the stock airbox. Can somebody please tell me how to do this mod??? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yup, that's what I did but only cheaper.

Just cut a 4" hole in bottom of air box and buy a ridged 4" dryer vent hose. Run the Dryer vent hose to bottom flush with fender and plastic member. Stick it up into air box about an inch and bend it over to hold in place. Hasn't fallen off for almost years and 22,000 miles worth of driving.

Total cost, Drum roll please, less than ten bucks!!!!

The only thing i'm worried about is if I do any offroading that water or mud may get sucked in there?? What do you guys think??

You don't have to remove any of the front bumper or anything else other than the airbox to do the mod do you???

Air is still sucked in from the original side fender opening so unless you swamp the air box I wouldn't worry about it. It would take more vacum than the cummins can produce to draw water up the bottom intake while the side one is still open.

Just the air box is all.
When you remove the air box just look down and you'll see where the dryer hose or whatever you want to use should go.
