Maybe I worded it wrong. I know I will have to pay California sales tax. I bought my 92 in Oregon and paid California sales tax, when I registered it here. Beings Oregon has no sales tax, I never had to pay a sales tax to Oregon. What I wanted to know, if I bought a truck from Dave Smiths Motors in Idaho, do I have to pay Idaho sales tax and vehicle license fees. If so, then it wouldn't be practical to buy from them and pay sales tax and license fees in two states. I would be better off, buying it here or in Oregon, again. IF I remember right, Idaho has something like a 6% sale tax and it is over 7% here, that is a lot of money.

Rodney,

I bought my truck at Dave Smith Motors in Idaho. They charged Utah tax. I had the option of no sales tax and paying it when I licensed it in Utah. Sales tax gripes me worse than most things I can think of.

Rodney,

If you buy the truck in Idaho and pay 6% sales tax you will pay 1% sales tax when you register it in CA - you only pay the difference between what you paid & what the tax rate is in your county.

An out of state licensed carrier agreed to provide me with paperwork for shipping, though they may not actually move the truck themselves. The dealer doesn't care, as long as he has a paper trail.

If someone is driving down for the Dec 15 event from the NW to Pahrump, I can probably find some way down to LA. Bus tickets are a song (25-30 bucks), and it's only 275 miles. Even flying from LV is only about a hundred bucks.

Then again, a mover should be about that to get it to LV or Pahrump, as well.

I've investigated other means of getting there, and the only other workable option is to fly down from Portland or Pasco. If I do that, it'll be the week before Christmas.

Anyway, that's where things stand... and I'll have to firm up those plans here in the next week.
