A question to all BD pressure lock users

TST and high Idle feature question

On the truck I recently purchased is a rather strange looking turbo. Every time I pop the hood to give someone a looksee, they all say the same thing: "that ain't the stock turbo is it?".

Here's a pic of the dataplate. No pics of the turbo itself. Compressor side is black, turbine side is rust just like all others. Truck is a manual trans.

In case you can't read it, the tag is as follows:

Assy. 3533320

Serial: C0296353

Customer: 3925740-0-09/3

Type WH1C

Thanks,

Andy

Nebbermind... . It appears that this is the turbo used on the 1994's. I thought they were all HX's or HY-35's. Evidently first 12v's had the WH1C.

I guess that settles that. :)

Thanks,

Andy

The WH1C uses the same exhause housings as the HX35's. If it's wastegated it's most likely a 12. The earlier (1st gens) came with bigger non-wastegated housings.

The WH1C and early hx35 was basically the same performance wise.

The difference is that the WH1C uses a band clamp around the compressor housing instead of the snap ring that the HX uses. Cost cutting...
