I've got 35's and want the speedometer, odo, abs to be set properly.

I thought there was an issue w adjusting the settings for a 2006.

Is there? Where/how are the change made?

TIM

Yes,but it is limited to offered tire and gear ratios. The tallest P/U tire shown is run on the Power wagon(285)There is also a large wheel size run on the 45/5500's I haven't found the time to get the actual measurement on that one yet.

The smarty will do it and you get the added benefit of the large grins that will come with it's use.

275/60/20 and 3.54

bob, the tallest tire on the list is the 275/60/20..... its 33"

if he programs for the 275/60/20 and 3. 54 gears, the final ratio should match well for 35's.

i have a whole bunch of numbers i've crunched on this after the dealer screwed up programing me for tire size. i actually need some one knowledgable to discuss this with and to fix.

i need it redone but don't have anyone i trust who also has the programmer.

tires/gears

Tire... ... ... ..... Ht in inches

285/70/17..... 32. 7

275/60/20... ... 33

305/40/22... ... 31. 6

235/80/17... ... 31. 8

225/70/19. 5... 31. 9

265/70/17... ... 31. 6

offered gear ratios

3. 55

3. 73

3. 92

4. 1

4. 56

if you play with these numbers and the offered gear ratios on a gear calculator, you can find a combo that should get you close for tires 35" tall and below.

It's all about driveshaft revs/mile.

Stock revolutions are 2379.

(638 revs/mile for tire x 3. 73 gears=2379)

35" tires rotate 582. 4 times/mile. If I change the rear end ratio to 4. 1 I get 2388 driveshaft revolutions per mile. (4. 1 x 582. 4)

Sound right?

Tire Size Revs/mile 3. 73 3. 55 3. 92 4. 10 4. 56

285/70/17 617. 00 2301. 41 2190. 35 2418. 64 2529. 70 2813. 52

275/60/20 611. 00 2279. 03 2169. 05 2395. 12 2505. 10 2786. 16

305/40/22 638. 00 2379. 74 2264. 90 2500. 96 2615. 80 2909. 28

235/80/17 634. 00 2364. 82 2250. 70 2485. 28 2599. 40 2891. 04

225/70/19. 5 632. 00 2357. 36 2243. 60 2477. 44 2591. 20 2881. 92

STOCK 265/70/17 638. 00 2379. 74 2264. 90 2500. 96 2615. 80 2909. 28

New size 325/65/18 582. 40 2172. 35 2067. 52 2283. 01 2387. 84 2655. 74

My nerdy spreadsheet didn't format properly, but you can see all the combinations available.

First column is tire size, 2nd is tire revs/mile, 3rd is driveshaft revs/mile w 3. 73, then w 3. 55, 3. 92, 4. 1 and 4. 56.

Diff gearing doesn't affect speedo on 3rd gens only tire size

tone ring option?

did you guys have to deal with the tone ring when using smarty? with the dealer programmer it was the last entry/option. the dealer did mine and didn't know what to select when he got to the tone ring and just guessed. he's supposed look it up to give me a call with the correct size but is blowing me off now.

options were 9. 5 10. 5 and 11. 5 for tone ring. i thought it should match the axle (11. 5) but he went with 10. 5.

did some internet searches and found a little info that suggested different size tone rings came with automatics vice manual and 4. 11s vice 3. 73 and so on even though they are all 11. 5 axles. but couldn't pin down for sure what i have.

truck shifts a little differently now and it's driving me crazy that something could be programmed wrong with it... . damage?? the different shifting could just be from the 285/70/17 tire size they selected even though my tires are 295/70/17... a full inch taller.

does anyone know what i'm supposed to be at for tone ring?

Sounds like a nitemare to get this rite im leaving my spedo alone aprox 10% off per gps with my 35's.

Going back to stock tires for the winter.

Will it harm anything to just leave it off 10% for the summer.

Got the smarty Fri night, updated the software and completed the ECM and ABS update. Speedo shows correct speed (verified x gps) and truck moves out, and blows some smoke under heavy throttle. I like the smarty, and I'm convinced it's of better quality than the tri dog, but I wonder why it doesn't have the ability to change things like idle up option, fog light/high beam operation, seat belt minder, accessory delay?

You should have the high idle... ..... try it. The other options are not in the ecm,but other modules.
