I would like to increase the idle about 50-75 rpm. Can we get into the PCM to do that, and is that where it is done? Any help would be appreciated.

Ron

Idle speed would be controlled by the ECM, the PCM controls the auto transmission. I don't know of any way to get into the ECM other then through the factory programmer and even then I don't know if that is an option.

Why do you want it to Idle high? mine Idles at 850, I would like to se about 650 when warm. I have an 1980 Olds Delta, diesel I let that Idlea for 30 minutes and i'll do better on fuel in the cold weather then just driving off. That idles like 500 to 600, My dodge don't do that, It burn alot more fuel letting it idle for 30 minute, then just giving it 3 minutes idle time. I don't and let the truck Idle, or Milage goes down alot. don't matter if it is warm or cold, It burn it, I don't notice milage drop with my 1980 old diesel when there alot of idle time, I check my milage every tank,

I would like to see lower idles like the older dodge trucks

its probably a bad thing to let the truck idle that low or for that long. being cold (if it is) its bad enough that its sitting for that long nevermind at low idle. I have seen plenty of injectors carbon up from low temp idling. you want to keep it up in an attemp to keep cylinder temps up as much as possible

The fuel saver software ( SW # 1 ) in Smarty lowers the idle speed to 690-700.

Can't go lower, the steering becomes heavy, the alternator does not charge enough the engine surges after a short while when placed in gear ( AT ) the engine starts to run rough... Mileage gain? Some... ... :D

Helps?

When my truck idles in gear, it will (most of the time) start to surge and gets really worse if I don't do something, like hold the brake and give it a little accelerator. It only takes about 50 rpm to make it stop. When trying to back a trailer, it is a real problem. If I can't find a cure, I'm going to put my 6 speed back in. Anyone want an auto with a DTT conv. and Emjay controler? (it did it before the DTT and emjay)
