Can we retire the name HVAC in honor of Nowel?

Just a question, in case someone comes along, and has no clue, say a newbie, and is into Air conditioning, and wants the name HVAC. Is there a way we can retire that name so it gets no one else but Nowel's name, honor, and prestige behind it? Just a thought.

That's done for all user names. We don't get rid of user accounts because if we did then any posts for that user would change names as well. So, Nowel's got the name and his posts.

Steve. Have the archives been lost? I was trying to search out some old HVAC posts and they seem to be missing.

Anything older than 2/1/2001 is all under the username "Archive". When a previous webmaster made the switch between ubb & vbulletin he didn't import anything older than that because of the preformance problems we were having at the time. Part of the import process assigns new user id #'s to everyone. When I took over and went to restore all those messages there wasn't any way for me to attach the messages to the new user id's over than to manually do a search on the old system for the user id # and a search on the new system for the new user id # and manually enter all that data (for >12,000 members at the time) into a table - and if the process aborted for some reason I'd have to reenter all that data. I tried doing a few of them at the time and timed how long it would take and it would have taken something like a month of full time work just to enter the data once - wasn't worth it. So in order to get the information I just imported it all under the user "Archive".



So you'll have to search for it based on what was in the posts and on the user "Archive" to find them. You can search on HVAC and on Nowel in the search by keyword field with "Archive" in the user field and you will find some of them. The signature line in the message was a part of the message back then so on the messages that Nowel included his signature you can search for that.

back then he posted on a BIG BUNCH of them... look mostly in the HP type threads . . but all forums will contain some posts. . even in the 12 valve section 'cause back the we posted on both sides with lots of 12v v / s 24v wars LOL

Looks like lots of the old posts are missing even using the above method. Regardless, his memory lives on!
