It's really very simple. The warranty is on the product (the truck) or in the case of the engine, a specific component of the truck which was purchased by Chrysler to put into the Dodge Ram under a Chrysler warranty. Chrysler warrants the Cummins engine based on it's known expected design lifespan. It's no different than the outsourced alternators. Dodge doesn't bill Bosch or Nippondenso or whoever for warranty claims. It might make a claim against them for a defective lot, a la the Ford-ITE 6. 0L PS row, but not an individual alternator as in warranty claims.
