Is it possible to turn a catalytic converter into basically a straight through pipe? I can't find four inch pipe around here to replace my cat, much less the reducer fittings. If anyone has done this, can you tell me the process and the results. I know they do it on Harleys. One of the custom exhaust shops said that four inch electrical conduit can be used as exhaust pipe. Is this true?

You can hollow out the cat, many folks do, but then it will be unusable if the time ever comes and you have to have it,I think a new one is $600. NAPA has the pipe, reducer and clamps you need for under $25,if you value your time it's cheaper than hollowing out the cat and will also cause less turbulence.

I know it can be done, I'm not exactly sure how to do it on these things, but if you can, see a guy who works with or fabricates race cars, thats the guy who did it here, and usually those guys can figure a way to turn a soda can into a cannon. Check around with guys like that.

I'm with ILLFLEM, don't destroy the cat, replace it. I went the route of using the official Dodge test pipe instead of the pipes and clamps. If you search the archives you can find a part number. It costs a little more, around $50, but then you don't have to mess around trying to get it to fit. Looks good when you're done too.
