Wanted To Know If And What Would Happen If You Run The High Sulfer Fuel In The Late 2006 Cummins Diesels ? My 04. 5 Doesn T Like The Ultra Low Sulfer Fuel I Know That.

It's my understanding that the 5. 9's are good with LSD and ULSD. The engines out after January 1 are ULSD only.

There is no High Sulfur Fuel available for road use... its either LSD or ULSD and either will work in your 06... . besides... . most all stations don't have two sets of tanks or another set, so they are only selling ULSD and dyed diesel for off road use only... .

High Sulfur Diesel is for farm use only... ... . :D

You must be talking about the low sulfur diesel, I have a buddy that has a 07 that is mandatory by law to run the ULSD in and he has on occassion run LSD in it... Wes

There is no high sulfur fuel. Even the off road diesel is the same as road diesel it's just dyed red when loaded in the truck for tax purposes. The days of farm fuel and road fuel being different have been gone for a long time.

There isn't any LSD being made anymore just some pumps haven't had the label attached, which should have been done by Jan 1. I got the letter telling me I needed to label my pump(s) or i could be fined, which I thought was pretty stupid since I'm the only one that's using it. :-laf

anyone know which type the diesel fuel in Baja is? In the winter when I am there I usually fuel in San Felipe for my trips to the states for items since fuel in that area is about $1. 85 per gallon.

03's have no catalyst, so you can run anything, just not water and bacteria.

I'm going to guess that we will see some trucks (07) with particulate traps that were damaged by using the wrong fuel... and I assume that when that happens it will plug them up the same way a cat gets plugged up... . its like a plug in the tail pipe or restricted exhaust... . so the truck will not perform... . and I assume that the dealer will be able to tell what's going on and deny warranty... . and from what I've read these things are going to be hundreds of bucks to change.....

If the rest of you have the same thoughts or others I'd like to hear them???

This may be true but, I am a firefighter and the other day we had a tanker truck roll over and was leaking fuel... The driver stated he had approx 4000 gal of High Sulfer Diesel... Just goin off of what he said... . Wes

Plenty of LSD still available through southeast.

Pumps that have LSD now have new big yellow stickers saying do not use in 2007 vehicles that require ULSD.

Last I looked refinners were trying to work up to run 80% ULSD. 100% ULSD is not mandated until 2010.

Funny, that contradicts about every piece of info to date, and this document

Georgia was in the southest the last time I checked. :-laf

The switch over to ULSD was supposed to be done by Oct 15 for the whole US refinery capability. Its possible the gulf coast refineries were given a special dispensation due to the hurricanes and damage, but it must be a well kept secret if so.

I find it rather hard to believe a small section with a worse pollution problem would be the last to switch when the rest of us haven't seen LSD for 3-4 months. Leads one to believe there is just labeling problem at the pumps. :)

No labeling problems. ULSD is not widely available in a number of places.

Check todays Flying J's availability link for different states.

http://flyingj.com/fuel/diesel_CF.cfm

By the way, for every Flying J there are dozens of stop and shop type places around that do not currently have ULSD.

first of all anything can be different from rules and regulations on refineries and saying that the south is the worst pullution problem is definitly not a fact by any means

second so if i buy an 07 5. 9 can i run red diesel in it and as far as i know there is no filter on these trucks and will not be until they go to the 6. 7 and i know it is illegal to run red diesel so do not inform me of that thank you
