For some reason I can't do a brakestand burnout with my truck. It won't break the tires loose and I get no smoke. We think the transmission is not loading up the engine. 2004 305/555 with TST and 48RE auto. Any level. I had one of the guys from a well know diesel shop at IRP drive with me. He said I should have no problem doing burnouts with the TST. I dynoed 425 RWHP Saturday at IRP.

I ran into someone there that said the factory computer settings don't allow burnouts and can be changed. No one else could confirm that.

The fellow from the diesel shop thinks the transmission has an issue with slipping clutches. If so it must have been built that way from brand new cause it never would do a brakestand.

Experiences?

Seems weird. I do burnouts all the time and even won the firestone burnout contest last yeay and doing it again this year.

I cannot do a brakestand, I have tried a few times though not too hard. If I brake load it so I have about 10 psi boost all it does it chirp slightly when I let off the brakes.

Heck, I can even do one in my shop F250 7. 3 psd w/ 185k miles on it!

I just floor the throttle, and modulate the brakes a bit (kind of pumping the brakes). After a couple of cycles on the brake and the tires light up!

Is there a load-sensing brake proportioning valve in our trucks? Perhaps it's out of adjustment and clamping the rear brakes too much?

Your truck should have no problems lighting the tires up.

I used to not be able to do one either, even with the TST on 5/3.

I had a new factory trans put in, with an ATS converter and valve body. I haven't tried doing one on 5/3 but I have on 6/5 and it does one nicely. Just need to hold it for a sec while it builds up some power.

I could also never chirp my BFG at's before either, but now I can make em squeal.

I don't know Hoot... I know my dads stock 04. 5 auto will smoke the tires. Must be a hit or miss 48re thing

Torque Management? Might try calling BD and see if their RAD will take care of that for you. I can get a decent bark, but mine won't even do a real burnout without the RAD.

47re trucks I believe 200. 5 -03 had the Torque management system. Bd anti defueler easily solved that problem in my truck.

How??? What's your technique?

+2500 in 2nd or 3rd and agressive clutch application, then on the brakes to hold it in place... that should do it for ya... [and a little water/soapywater on the tires is an easy starter]

Yeeeehaaaaaw!!!!!!

I don't know how many times one can do that with a stock clutch...

Sometimes I wish I had an auto. But only sometimes

Add aggressive throttle application to aggressive clutch application. You can also get noise out of 315s at any shift of the gears no matter what speed you're going.

I never wish I had an auto. My Hemi auto cured me of auto's forever. Hopefully the South Bend clutch for the g56 shows up before I send my stock one to clutch heaven. A short throw would also be nice.

I usually can get a pretty good powerbrake going, even stock. I got my chip put in and was showing off to a friend and I couldn't get the tires to let loose for nothing, but as soon as I released the brake, I was gone in a cloud of smoke. Seems to depend on what mood my truck is in if I can get it to powerbrake or not. Usually I have to let off the brakes a little, then get back on them to get it to start, but once started, it'll go forever.

I can't do one even with the tst on either but next weeks stage V ats transmission should hopefully solve my problems. I dyno'd at 425 hp with the tst also. it just doesn't load up the turbo to make boost. It only builds like 5 psi at WOT and brakes holding it from rolling.
