Can't get an avatar - HELP

I've been to the f. a. q. section, gone to my "user cp", edit options, change avatar. There's none listed to choose from. I've tried to add my own, submit changes nothing is working



I ain't gettin anywhere except frustraited wondering what the heck I'm doin' wrong. HELP!

Here goes.

I start by going to User CP, then Edit Options.



In "edit Options" everything is answered "yes" and the forum "default" except; Invisible mode "no", Hide E-mail address "no", Use E-mail confirmation by default "no" and default post per thread set @ show 10 per page.



I go to the bottom and select, "Change Avatar".



Use avatar is checked "No" (I think this is where the problem is and can't figure out how/is there another area prior to this section that I should select "Display avatar?" to get "yes")



Under this it has a "Choose your avatar from the available list"



Then it has "Displaying avatars 1 to 0 of 0"



Under Custom Avatars I select "yes" (noticing that the no @ 'Use Avatar is now not checked? and still displays "Displaying avatars 1 to 0 of 0" )



Then I go to ""You can upload an avatar from your PC"

I select "Browse", Select a picture & "Submit Modifications"



I get thanked for submitting my modifications (or words to that effect) and sent back to my User CP (I think).



Still no avatar. ???



Also, I can't bold and change colors of text or if I want to enter a smile etc in text that has already been entered (before submitting reply) regardless of where I place the cursor when I select the smile I want it goes to the end of my reply?'' (I had to maunally type this one in to place it where I wanted it to go?)



I find it somewhat frustrating to spend about 1/2 hour doing all this and still not get anywhere. Furthermore, it's hard to believe that there isn't an area I can get help information on what I'm doing wrong (or, maybe I'm missing that too?), other than me having to post HELP and hope someone takes time to reply and they can actually help me.



Isn't there a "TDR Website use for knuckle heads"? (especially one's like me



Thanks for initially responding and most of all your time. I'm sure it's something simple I'm doing wrong, IE. 99% of the problems with computers are the users not using them properly/not knowing how to properly use them.
