Archived can't get cam out

I have the head off liters held up with dowels and retainer removed.



I pulled the cam out till the first lobe was visible and that was as far as I could get. Is there a trick or technique to get it out the rest of the way

I used a claw hammer hooked through the gear as an extension handle to help hold the cam as level as possible. it MUST come out straight, it MUST go in straight and not drag across the bearing surfaces! Also be sure you took out the lift pump in the block!!

Lift pump! You got's to take the lift pump off!

#@$%! I can't belive I forgot the lift pump.



Do you think I did any damage pulling against the lift pump?



Could parts have fallen in the motor?



I lost my manual does anyone have lift pump removal instructions?

remove bolts remove pump. no parts fell in check pump arm for bend

Just two bolts and it pulls off. As stated above, if the arm that rides the cam isn't bent sideways you're good.
