There seems to be more activity here than in the 911 so I'll ask here. Has anyone had trouble getting the crankshaft position sensor out of the block? It will twist ok but no movement out of the block. If there is rust,etc. holding it, should I drill through the sensor to try to free it up? What are other alternatives? Drop oil pan and attack from inside? Any help would be appreciated!:{

Pull hard... real hard. That oring makes a good seal on it. I pulled real hard and it popped free and I smacked my hand on something else in the way. If you've got a new one and your not worried about hurting it, pliers will pry it out like an injector.

No manual, but disconnected batteries, starter, retaining clip. It will twist ok but doesn't come out at all. Channel locks have broken little peices off the plastic. Even took the dip stick thing out so I could get a better grip. . no luck.

yep. The sensor turns freely, but will not come. I'll try pulling harder since I have the new part. Thanks for the help

Good Grief Charlie Brown! Lol, . . need to grow some muscles. Stick one or two flat srew drives and pry gently.

I have only had one that would not come out in one piece. Had no coice but to dremel it out in small bits. Most will come out with a little penetrating oil and some force.

BIG PIA

I had to replace my crank sensor looked easy, should have been easy, but was anything but, easy 2hrs of twistin pullin pryin swearin swearin some more and I had acesss to all my tools the major problem is rust between the o-ring on the sensor and the out side edge of the block a good half inch deap. After destroying the sensor getting it out I cleaned hole a little with sand paper couldn't get sensor back in still rust build up in first half inch of the hole so I got flap wheel and realy cleaned up the hole now new lightly greased sensor slides in like it should and I put a little sealant at the edge of the sensor to seal up hole before the o-ring shouldn't have problems next time. The best thing that helped was the penetrating oil and twistin pullin pryin twistin pullin pryin .

Best of luck it call be hard

Had to destroy it but finally got the bugger out. Then the new one wouldn't go in easy. It's such a tight fit, they probably don't need the o ring. Engine light is off and everything OK. While I was down there, I changed the lift pump. It was getting weak. . 4psi WOT. New one is 14 idle, 12 WOT.

Thanks for the help. This is a great site.
