ACLU scarey and not too far in the future

I have tried LaCross and Cabela's recently cause they say these are top of the line. I broke out the heel on both in weeks.

I have tried some others but don't recall the name brand.

Getting tire and sick of having leaking boots in this winter slush/snow.

I work indoors but have to go out of doors some time to clean off my truck and walk to and from the shop. My feet get wet right away and stay wet all day unless I change out my boots and socks inhopes I don't have top go back outside till quitting time

Wet feet in Ohio

Hey Green leaf ... . One of the biggest benifits of living in OHIO is being close to the ROCKY outlet center in nelsonville and main store ... Just get gore-tex and cadora and your feet's wont get wet gauranteed . . I work 7 out of 12 hrs a day with boots soakin wet and this set up of boot is the only thing that'll keep me dry. I even get the seconds and they still get er' dun

My preference is Vasque boots available at Red Wing shoe stores, once they are broke it they are real comfortable. Cost a pretty penny though!

I second the Sorrel if you are sloshing around in the stuff but I have not seen one tha tis a indoor type shoe.

I would go with the Red Wings they are a bit pricey but last forever, I outgrew my last pair and jsut have not had the need to pay that much for a pair of work boots again since I mainly inside and we don't have that bad of weather, even though my toes are freezing sitting at my desk at work two hours after closing and the heat has gone to weekend mode.

If you want the best go to http://www.whitesoutdoor.com/index.php They are handmade and rebuildable. They are expensive, but they last. I wear their leather work boots, and they make a pair of red wings seem like $2. 00 velcro tennis shoes. If you do buy a pair of regular work boots, be prepared for the first set to take about 2 weeks to stop making your arch hurt. After that you'll swear by them. They have winter packs and insulated leather work/hunting boots Jake

If you want a boot that is waterproof and fairly warm down to about 10 below, the Matterhorns are nice. The military issues them to us and I go out in them until about -30 for up to an hour and wear them all spring and summer. Most any boot with a gortex and a thinsulate lining will be good for where you are at. Hope this helps.

Being a lumber delivery driver here in Denver I know first hand about good boots so here are my recommendations.

Rocky's - Love them. Steel-toed,water-proof and are they ever warm

Sorels- There ok but too clunky to drive with especially being steel-toed.

Columbia- Best winter boot that I have for the really wet slush days.

Dr. Martens- My favorite dry boot, a little heavy but good for the feet.

Oh yeah I also have orthotics and If you don't have them you need them. When I first got them about a year ago I thought my shoes were fine but I gotta tell you guys they made a huge difference in daily comfort. Especially in the 12-15 hour summer days. Hope this helps. :D

I recommend the Red Wings for sure. Some models have a 1 year treadlife warranty that covers free repacement of the boot if you can wear it out. Look for the models with the clear looking sole. I bought a pair for a little over $200, and planned on wearing them out so I could cash in on the new boots, but they have held up for almost 2 years. They are the most comfortable boots I've had and the soles may last for another year yet. Plus, they are Made in USA.

I agree with Jfinke. Go with the white's if you can afford them. I've got 2 pair, the smoke jumpers and the packers and i love them. U remember back in the day when quality american made products could be had? well that is what you will get with white's. very high quality. :D

Down here in Anchorage the military issued me Danners and they are very nice the only thing i don't like about them is i wear a size 14 and i look like bigfoot walking around but they are very warm. Hope this helps.

I've got a pair of Danner Fort Lewis boots, and they are great. Super comfortable from day one, and very tough. Although I now only use them for pleasure* and not work/duty, some of my military type friends swear by 'em.

Not cheap at $220+, but I honestly doubt I'll ever have to buy another pair of boots. http://danner.com/

*I typically wear shorts and teva's year round...

I had the matterhorns and they were great boots for the money. Always warm and dry! The fit left a little to be desired, though.

The Red Wings I have now are the best boots I've owned to date. Not cheap and not insulated, but somehow they keep me warm and dry.

The fit on me is perfect! Dicks Bootery here in Cheyenne hooked me up, and gave me a pair with a half-size difference between them to properly fit my feet (left foot is 10. 5D; right is 11C)

Could you define what "orhtotics" are? Where do you get them?TIA

Orthotics are essentially a arch/foot support for people with foot or back problems. They work by first taking a mold of your feet and make it into a actual support insole. This makes every shoe I have feel the same. Like I said I love them to death.

Danner Ft. Lewis and Matterhorn boots are both great waterproof gortex boots. They are great boots for general purpose cold weather everyday boots. They are not boots you want to wear for extended cold weather ie. ice fishing, hunting ect. I own a pair of Danner Ft. Lewis boots and love them for everyday winter wear. For ice fishing, hunting I utilize a pair of Rocky boots with the gortex and thinsulate lining, or the military issue "Mickey Mouse" boots.
