This just happened on my 2007 5. 9 liter Dodge Quad Cab 4x4. I Started the truck, went to put in gear, stepped on the brake, but shifter would not move. I went in the house came out, and it rolled right into drive. I wondered if there is a sensor for fluid temp on cold days, or fluid movement through lines. Anyone else have this problem? Any feedback would be helpful. It was fine rest of day after it was warmed up.

I don't think your transmission moves fluid while idleing ... ... ..... not meaning to sound sarcastic, but did you have your foot on th brake?

Mine will sometimes do that. I assume at those times that I actually moved the shift lever just before I depressed the brake pedal far enough to disengage the lockout.

I've learned, when it happens, to take my foot off the brake, push the shift lever firmly back into park and let go. Then I deliberately depress the brake before I touch the shift lever.

This works, at least for me.

yeah, my foot was definately on the brake. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a new "safety" feature that would require the transmission to warm up or something to prevent damage.
