Cant order a 6 speed now??

A friend of mine went to a dealership today and they told him all 6 speed orders were nixed? Told him either 5 speed or auto due to some quality control problems. Once the problems are squared away, he can come back and order one. I told him I would ask you guys about it. Well, is this true or what?

Had a dealership tell me that just before Thanksgiving. Check with a couple of other dealerships during my travels around the state and it was never mentioned. When I finally decided to get serious about the order, I went back to the original dealership that told me about the restriction. Since they had no more trucks on the lot with the 6-speeds, they were more than ready to order me a truck; however, would not deal on my current ride. Ordered on 12/11/00, no problems, only thing they said was that the plants were slowing down for the holidays and the truck probably wouldn't be here til end of January to mid Feb. Sometimes I wonder if they say these things just to get you to buy whats on the lot. #ad

we have a couple of 6 spds and have been very pleased with them. it took six months almost to the day for them to be delivered. i would think that if there was a problem with the trans this site would have been the first place to know. i learned long ago that most of the ones telling me the problem with my beasts are the ford and chevy owners.

I ordered a new 2500 with the eth/dee package on November 28th and it is sitting in a rail car about 40 miles from my doorstep. Due to the holidays I probably will not get it until the 27th or 28th of this month. This truck was built in Mexico City and has been in a rail car since December 12th. The rail company sure does not get in any big hurry. I really hate the idea of the truck sitting there and there is nothing I can do about it. Anyway I got off the subject. There was no restrictions at all when I ordered the new truck.

Chad, I agree with Mike, I know of three Rams ordered with 6 speeds since October and all three were delivered in less than 5 weeks from the initial order. Mine showed up yesterday- nice Christmas present #ad

. I have been tracking all three and there was never a restriction on the transmission.

Same here--bought mine right off the lot. (the dealer had 2). The owner at the dealership said that he was having a terrible time with ordering the 6 spds until november. He isn'nt having any problems now wtih his orders. Got mine for $500 over invoice plus $1000 rebate.

I ordered a 3500 chassis cab with the 6 speed and ETH the wednesday before xmas (19th or so). I checked status on the 27th and it's D1, waiting to roll. .
