My 04. 5 will show codes on the dash if I turn the ignition key off and on 3 times.

My 08 will not show codes with this procedure. I've mentioned this on the Cummins forum and others said to have the parking brake on, turn the key real fast, etc.

I've tried everything and the codes will not show up on the dash. I have been to the dealer 4 times for the same P0128 code. I'd like to be able to see what codes are popping up on my own without involving the dealer every time.

Any ideas?

Truck has to be totally reset power wise.

Keys out climb in truck, make sure door is shut. Cycle key 3 times leaving in on postion very fast.

Soemtimes you may have to do it a couple times but each time you do you have to pull the key out of ignition and open door and then close door to kill the delay feature. It should work.

Some people try to stand at the edge of the door with the door open and doing it but it won't work.

I have not tried this but I was told to hold down the odometer reset while turning on the key, the dealer in Utah who told me this seemed to have their **** together???--for 08's

Boyd,

I popped a CEL for the first time this week on my Mega Cab. I too have been told that you can't pull up codes on a Mega Cab using the old tries an true Three times off to on. But to the contrary I have had success on my 08 MC but unlike previous MOPAR's I've owned it seems you have to cycle much quicker with the new 6. 7, and while your trying to accomplish this you have to be careful not to slip past off to acc. Try cycling quicker than your used to and I suspect you to can get it to read.

IIRC that is either to check the dash codes or to check the hours. The key on/off real fast works on mine.

Ive got 8700 on my 08 6. 7 MC. Finally popped a CEL. I swear that no matter how fast I cycle the key from Off to on I dont pop any codes. Going to take it to the dealer tomorrow.

They should give me a loaner right?

My '07 6. 7 is the same as my '04. 5. Holding the trip/reset button after turning the key on will turn up engine hours. Pushing the trip/reset button while turning the key on will send it thru a gauge cluster check and display a few codes too. I don't know what the codes in the cluster check mean though.
