I was wondering how many guys with big tunes in their trucks are capping off the rail valves and is there any down falls so far. Does it make a difference as far as injector failures?

Capped rail

It works well. I haven't put a gauge on it but others have reported that it raises your rail pressure by 2k. That's very modest and pretty similar to what a VA C3. 1 pressure box will do. With that spec I don't see how it can cause an injector problem. Most injec damage occurs due to spikes in pressure and garbage in the fuel which is why you need a 2 or 3micron absolute filter. FASS and GDP both have them as well as others. Also use Stanadyne or Power Service regularly to keep them clean.

It's removing the pressure relief valve on the rail. Not sure how it would raise your rail pressure unless it was leaking to begin with. Without it you run the risk of overpressuring the system and breaking something.

It's probably more for the hardcore high HP guys--not the daily driver.

How does eliminating a releif valve raise pressure? Please do not perpetuate misinformation... ... . If you have popped the valve(and you can here it when it happens) and it has failed or has been leaking... OK

I capped mine a while back when doing some troubleshooting on my fuel system. It was easy and took a total of ten minutes. I did what Reb. B at BROWNS DIESEL reccomended. I bought a 1/8th pipe tap and tapped the banjo bolt inside and installed a 1/8th pipe plug in the center of the bolt then put the banjo bolt back in and torqued it to 22 fp. No muss no fuss and looks stock. I don't see a power jump but does run smoother.

Wade posted sometime back when capping first came out that capping the rail was worth 2kpsi. I'm sure his post is out there in the post swamp somewhere.

No on both. No popped valve and NO leaks. Not sure, but as others claim,... . I think it sounds a bit smoother. However, when I go dual cp3s the relief valve or at least a modded relief valve (Relentless Diesel) will go in place of the cap. ;)

By simply capping the relief valve, you are not going to gain any pressure... unless , the valve was leaking to begin with.

I have had mine capped since last fall, also, it was leaking! pull the bango bolt out, start truck, mine blew fuel all over the under side of my hood. If it is not leaking, good to go.

With a capped valve, with my mods, it does not exceed 26k W/EZ on 2. Even when I let off quickly, only spikes to 26k.

This is the very least of my worries. Jess
