Have been looking at car hauler /camper combos and was wondering if anybody had any input on them. The fifth wheel looks the way to go, as I am thinking about putting the boat behind it.
Are you looking at Race trailers with living quarters or toy boxes?
The toyboxes I looked at didn't have the cargo capacity for real cars (just dune buggies/ATV's). They were also too high off the ground to drive a street car into unless you built mega long ramps.
That said, I bought a 36' southwest expressline GN race trailer. I couldn't afford the living quarters so I bought it as an empty box and have been adding amenities as time/$'s permit.
Eric, the ones we were looking at are what they would consider"toy box",I need one to haul the race car and sleep in. dang hotels are getting over priced! There are at least 10 people when we go and the hotel and food add up real quick.
Mike, What kind of car? When I was looking (not very hard) at toy boxes I didn't see any that I could get my (SCCA SoloII E-Stock MR2) into. Hopefully the model avalibility has increased in the last few years.
CScott is right you can't buy a better trailer than One from The Aluminum Trailer Company. I have a 28ft tag and have never had one problem with it. There is no wood in my trailer. Why would you buy a heavy wood and steel trailer like Pace? I figure the weight difference will put a lot less stress on my truck and more than make up any price difference. It tows like a dream.
Good luck in your search,
Rod
CATOILER I just noticed you were from Lancaster do you ever get to LACR?
Thanks for the input, We have a bunch of a-body mopars, they weigh from 2750 to 3300 pounds, and are about 16/17 feet long. Rod, talk about LACR I guess I am lucky . I work next door to the track, get to watch all the action for free!! all we need is a season pass and we would be set!
