Good Morning,

I received a set of three car seat teather attachment straps from one of our generous members here but I am not sure how they attach. I have seen them on other members trucks and I know the end sticks out from the top of the rear seat but that is all I know.

Can anyone give me a clue as to how and where they attach?

Thanks!!

:)

Child seat tethers

Patriot,

I took mine off a week after I bought the truck (my girls are growing up:eek: ) and I didn't want to keep looking at them through the rear view mirror.

When the rear seat was out in my truck I saw three separate points to which they attach too that have nuts welded to a small brace of sorts which in turn is spot welded to the back wall of the cab.

You most likely will not have these on your truck because DC did not install these until the '02 model years. You'll have to fabricate some sort of mounting for them to attach to the back wall. I cant remember off hand the size of the bolts/nuts (metric of course).

hope this helps,

Phil

Re: Child seat tethers

It sucked having to pull the rear seat to get those babys out of there! I just "forced" then to the down position, so if I ever need one I might be able to fit my hand down there and pull one back up.

My Girl is 9, so we don't need them either.

I use mine all of the time. I put my laptop case on the back seat and clip to the strap to keep it from moving around.

I don't know Chrysler's policy at this time, but in 2001 they had a policy that they would install child seat tethers for free in any dodge truck brought into the dealership. If I remember correctly, this was advertised in a TSB. The dealership I took my truck to was not aware of this policy (what's new) but when I insisted, they contacted Chrysler and were advised of the policy. They subsequently ordered the parts and installed them in my 1999 3500. If I remember correctly, this action (TSB) was related to child safety and good will on Chrysler's part. If I can find the TSB number at home I will post tomorrow.

I have an 01, went to the dealer and tried to buy the parts to install them. The dealer of course had no clue but gave me the number for DC customer service. I called them and spoke to a "tech" and was told if it didn't come from the factory with em they can't install them.

Did I understand correctly that some of y'all were able to get this done by DC?

I suggest that you take a copy of the TSB (23-35-99 a) to the dealership and have them call DC regarding what action they can take. I think you will find out that DC will OK the install.

Tom,

Thanks for the info, I searched on dodgeram.org and the tsb links from there and found the tsb but no full text of the tsb. Any idea where I gan get the full text of the tsb to print off?

Jeff,I will try this weekend to take some pics. and e-mail them to you. they should not be to hard to install. I pm you when i sent you them but i don't think it went through. can't find it in my folder.

child seat anchors

I did not know there was a TSB on this. Learn something new every day:rolleyes:

I think it's great if the dealer is willing to help those out and install the anchors. Like Tom said , "It's got to do with child safety"!

good luck

:)
