Transferflow Camper Shell Fillneck install

Got my Transferflow Camper Shell Fillneck installed on my Caravan Shell.

It almost hurt cutting a 5 inch hole in my new shell, but I am happy with the end results.

The shell looks great!

One of my coworkers has a 70s vintage Caravan shell on his old late 60s brand F and aside from fading to off-white and a broken window it is still in otherwise excellent condition.

AMink, The cap shown is the non lock cap that came with my Transfer Flow tank. I was just using it while I did the install. The caps for the Transfer Flow tank are the same as the 05 rams. I was able to buy two locking caps keyed alike from transfer flow. Now I need to finish off the end of my BedRug, I cut it as to remove the part of it that normally lays on the tailgate.

abdiver - how do you like the topper after having it a little while? Have you done anything to customize the interior?

Sarj - any pics of your topper?

Thinking about putting this one on my Second Gen to be able to do some weekend camping, have a place to keep everything dry.

What, if any, drawbacks have you found? I have a rhino lined bed - over the rails, any issues with that and this topper? Give me some ideas for how to set up a short bed. Thanks in advance!

What happened to all the older pictures on this thread? Do they time out or something? GiesJ, you won't have any problems with an over-the-rail spray in. I have one, and I think Abdiver does too. They still use some heavy foam stuff that seals it up.

GiesJ, I really like the Caravan. Makes the Quad Cab and Bed look more proportional than it did before the shell was installed. In my opinion it gives the truck a good look. I haven't had time to do much to it yet other than install a fuel bezel I, drilled and tapped the bottom end piece of the rear of the Caravan shell and placed a piece of Stainless floor trim to hold down the cut off end of the bedrug at the point where I cut it. I will see if I have a picture that shows it.

I am planning on upgrading the electrical wire that provides power to the shell lights and installing a couple of 12v power points near the rear of rear of the shell to run a norcold freezer/fridge and whatever else. I may also install a couple of rear lights. I don't like the lack of sheathing protection of the small gauge wire by Caravan shop, installation (not their strong suit).

I will provide more pictures when I do more work to it, Right now wife wants me to finish building her new house.

Will try take a couple of pictures tomorrow.

GiesJ Heres the pictures One shows the rubber foam strip that lays between the shell and truck bed rail. I am also going to repaint the underside of the rear bottom plate of the Caravan, once weather drys out. It started to rust week after it was placed on my truck looks like they just hit it only once with the spray gun. I am quite disappointed about that part of the Job!

Thanks for the pics. You have the tapersides model, right? What other options did you go with?

Anyone have one on a short box? Any other pictures? I have a intense blue sport and wonder if it will be too much blue with the topper on there??

Jason

ps - abdiver, is the ab short for abalone?

One more thing - on their website it looks like there is more of a gap between the topper and the cab than I am used to seeing on other trucks. Is this really the case or just my eyes playing tricks on me.

thanks

Jason

Abdiver - thanks for the additional info. I am at a loss for what to do next. I'm on the east coast now but would really like to see one of these on a SB in person. On top of that, how would I go about getting one out here and installed?

I was also looking at an ARE with the camper style door in the back (sans tailgate). Any suggestions as to how to Help me figure out what to do - I have a pretty tight budget and don't just like ordering something without seeing it and being able to compare different products.

Having said that, I am thinking it is time to get rid of the tool box in the bed, put on a topper and have a little more dry, lockable room.

Any other suggestions as to what to do? I am also concerned that in intense blue, it might look like garbage on my truck. Looks aren't everything but it can impact purchase choices...

GiesJ, Perhaps Sarj will post a picture of his he has a SB I saw it up close it looks nice.

Being your back east I doubt you are going to see one up close. You would have to come to Reno to have it installed I would think as even if it were shipped to you it would costly. Perhaps some one on that side of the coast has a suggestion. Just order one drive out to Reno, all you have to do is get lucky at the Casino.

Sorry I don't really have any better solutions
