When I swapped my injectors to 3's I noticed a slight carbon build up on the stock injectors. What additive are the fellow TDR members using to clean the carbon out of the combustion chamber that will not harm the engine? And how often should I use it? Thanks. :)

Carbon is normal....

How many miles did you have on your stock injestors? I use the Stanadyne fuel additive at every fill-up. IMHO, you will see carbon on the injectors regardless of what fuel additive you use... :D

If it is normal, than would you benefit from removing the injectors periodically to clean the carbon off? And what are the benefits to running the additives then if they don't keep the combustion chambers clean? Should I be running it? Thanks

It won't matter. I wouldn't bother pulling an injector uness your having a problem with it. The bigger injectors will have more carbon packed on them, but again it does not cause a problem... the hole openings themselves will stay clear.

You should see a set of Supermentals after one month of use!

JFulmer, LOL. :D I just thought this was the purpose of these additive that everyone uses. :confused: Apparently it is for something else. Should I start using this Stanadyne or equivalent? If so, what does the stuff average? Just more money gone that would go to BOMBs. :{

I use an additive to lube the injection pump and prevent water buildup in the fuel system. Some claim to raise the cetane level.
