2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission care for leather wheel

my '02 SLT appears to have a leather steering wheel. I was wondering what is the best thing to use to clean and preserve it. I drove some '94-'97 trucks that always had the steering wheel wearing through at the top which was always irritating to me and i don't like those thick wheel covers.

I put Lexol on mine when i first got my truck. Still looks and feels new. I make an effort to not have dirty nasty hands before driving, that may help prolong its life.

I second the Lexol. I've been using it for years on my elephant skin boots and other leather goods. At 115K miles, the leather in my '98 still looks pretty darn good.

Clean the wheel with Lexol cleaner first. Scrub well and work up a good lather. Then rinse it well with lots of water. Finally apply Lexol conditioner while the leather is still wet. At the water evaporates, the leather will draw the Lexol in.

Any really good car care store or Tack shop will sell it. I get mine at the local hardware store.

I got the Lexol cleaner and the leather conditioner at Pep Boys.
