Ok, I see that Carli has a new single steering stabilizer out now. It looks like it installs in the stock location. I also seen Thuren Fox single steering stabilizer that bolts/clamps farther past the stock location. Which one would work better?

I sure both are good products, but if you plan to do a crossover steering down the road Thuren's might be the one to go with. $. 02

More than likely, the longer one will work better. An IFP(Internal Floating Piston) shock will be longer, and better for the application. Emulsion shocks can be used, but they are much more effective when mounted vertically.

I am sure Don Thuren will be more than happy to expand on this.

Kinda funny how both of the previous replies have "KORE" systems and steer (no pun intended) you away from Carli. Bias, no way, those "KORE" guys are really open minded! I'm going to buy the Thuren system right now!

JKibby,

I gave my opinion on steering damper performance. Emulsion shocks prefer to be mounted upright. IFP's don't matter. I don't think it is possible to find an IFP shock with enough travel that would fit in the stock application. You could probably do it with a remote reservoir, but that would be a little cumbersome in the area we are talking about. I have not seen pictures of the Carli set-up, I am just going off of the information provided in the original post.

There was no bumpsteer thrown in for any other reason...

I went on Defiant's website and they had thier new single s/s. It costs similiar to the Thurens Fox S/S. I am going to purchase one here soon to replace my stocker. I didn't mean for this to get into who's best, but what's the difference between installing back to the OEM position or installing it further past the stock location like Thuren's. There are good posts here that educated me and the difference in the two w/ thier performance capabilies. Thanks.

BTW- Correct me if I am wrong, but does the Thuren's Fox S/S similiar to KORE's Fox S/S?

Ideally you want to move the stabilizer up out of harms way. I have changed out many stockers due to rock damage, often hit hard enough to bind up the steering.

I don't see any bias at all, just knowledgable members speaking their mind. I've benefitted from these "biased" guys experiences and knowledge. :)

My Thuren SS works very well and is reasonably priced. I have run it for about a week now. I just finished installing a Thuren track bar today. I have not driven very far with it yet. Just enough to set the steering wheel back to straight. My initial impressions of both items are very positive. I looked for a picture of the Carli SS but could not find it on their web site. The Fox shock that Thuren uses actually has "steer" stamped in the blue end piece. I am running it at 120 PSI and it pulls just a little left on a flat surface. A normal crowned road offsets the pull almost perfectly. You can add a little caster on the drivers side to offset the pull as well. I had to remove my PML front diff cover and go back to stock because of interference with the SS mount.

Hey, I just recieved my Thuren Trac Bar. There are no torque specs. Did you just tightened it as tight as you could or is there a torque spec. I should know? Did you also use any grease on the threads/head bolts for proper torque fitting?

Back to the thread. I will order the Thuren S/S. Seems like it works well because of the IFP shock, but I imagine a dual S/S would make the most difference.

I tightened both ends as tight as I could get them, no grease. I installed it once to get proper setting on the adjustable length, then I removed it so I could get the set nut tight. I put one wrench on the heim joint and another on the adjustment set nut, while the bushing end was held in a vice. I had the original track bar out when I installed the chase system and when I put it back I tightened it has tight as I could get it as well. The only difference is this time I did not use blue loctite.

I looked in the manual and it says 150 ft/lbs on the track bar bolts.
