I S-Canned the stock fuel lines and modded the pickup inside the tank. I run 3/8" "Diesel Fuel" hose from the bottom of the tank to the lift pump. I think Rabbit may be on to something there about VE vs P-7100 lift pumps. But after having completely dissembling this new pump and looking at how it operates. The plunger that the cam lobe rides on only pushes a piston to pull fuel into the pump. Then the spring pushes the piston back to supply fuel to the IP. The pump pistons have one way valves. So perhaps going with a stronger spring will raise pressure.

Well I swapped my p pump piston pump in today. . I found the spacer . . both the pump and spacer were used. . so I had to dig in the parts bin for the spacer. I was looking for wedge style spacer to make the lift pump level ha. . so when I tried the flat spacer ... I was surprised it worked ha. I also ditched the metal return line from ve pump. I put a vw ve style banjo with a barb fitting and cut the old metal return near the tee. I used the vw diesel fuel return line hose that is braided fabric over rubber and it works very nice . . its much easier , if you can call it that, to adjust the idle and the fuel screw. I also do that with the aneroid air line fitting, I use the barb banjo and a 1/8 nipple . I then use flexible silicone hose and a tee to have a boost line for my boost gauge from there too. That makes the starwheel adjust and and the fuel pin really easy to get too as you just unscrew the screws and flop it over on the side out of the way. I also swapped in my old PODs, and bumped the timing, cut the nylon washer down, make a custom grinder special fuel pin, heated the sping -squashed it some, swapped in my dual fuel filter plate etc etc ... . I hope to get my gauges in and my exhaust done this week . . I hope it runs good . . with the 3. 07s and the getrag. I hope to get a fuel pressure gauge soon... as I used a drilled out banjo and it has bigger ports and a taped 1/8 plug for the fuel inlet.

pheww any how i hope my piston pump puts out decent pressure too.

Thanks,

Deo
