Ferd new Powerjoke on the market

World Biggest Tractor

Okay, I got it running but still don't understand why.

I run my 82' Case 2096 about every three weeks. As usual, I plugged in the block heater and put the trickle charger on early this morning. Around 4pm I finally fired it up were upon it quickly died. After a few more tries, I went trouble shooting.

Pretty simple system. Gravity feed from the fuel tank to a primer with fuel bowl mounted on the side of the pump. From there to the filters, back to the pump and into the injectors. Return line back to the tank.

I pulled the feed line, no fuel. My fuel was a bit low but should have been adequate. Still, I decided to add some. Truck tank fuel line too short so I had to use a five gallon jug. 20 gallons should do but still no fuel. Go for the compressor, blow the line, hear air entering the tank, line should be open but still no fuel flow. Check fuel water drain under tank, fuel flows freely.

Tractor sits with the front lower due to floor dug out of old barn to get it in. Thinking maybe 20 gallons for some reason was not enough, I put blocks down, let tractor drift forward so I can fuel, fill tank. Still no flow.

One tool I don't have is a vacuum pump. Grabbed a horse syringe, pull on fuel line, fuel flows? Put fuel line back on, prime and purge system. Fire it up, chuggs a bit then runs like normal.

I am wondering if there is some kind of check valve in the tank? My books don't elaborate. You can't see the lines going into the tank.

All this in a poorly lit barn, it was 8pm until I finally got hitched to my manure wagon. Course' by then the wagon's PTO shaft was frozen from the cold so I had to put the twin halogens on that.

Did you clean the fuel strainer/sediment bowl? Could've had some water or some other crap in it maybe?

Have to do that ocassionally on the Deere 4430. There is a small screen in that one.

The fuel was not making it to the bowl/strainer. When I last serviced the fuel system, the strainer was shot. The replacement kit included a new glass bowl so you can see any smeg in the fuel.

Working in the cold and dim light of my drop light, I lubed the syringe with a couple of drops of fuel, put it to the line and pulled twice and got fuel. Not stirile conditions to look for foreign material. While the primer will push fuel through the filters, etc. , it would not pull it through the source line though I don't know if is supposed to.

You may have had some water freeze in the line or right at the bottom of the tank. You had no fuel when you took the line off. You blew air in and heard it go into the tank but was it proportional to the pressure you were putting in? A lot of times the water will start down the fuel line as a slug. If it stops and gets cold, it will freeze causing a blockage. You may blow some air past it but not be getting enough fuel past the blockage to feed the pump and run the engine. My tractor tank does not have a check valve. Just a pet cock for shutting the fuel off. I keep my tractor tank topped off with diesel in the winter to avoid condensation.

I have a petcock under the tank which was free of ice. The tank was somewhat low but I treat the fuel with both a lubricity enhancer (Case product) and Power Service. No access to the source or return fuel lines where they enter the tank so I have no idea what's up there. Working alone, I could hear the air from ~8 feet away, not much good there. It was just weird to pull on the source with a syringe and get fuel. Like there is some kind of check valve or something. Once I got the system purged, it ran fine for the hour or so that I had it running.

I topped the tank off. Have to see what it does in about two weeks when I fire it up again.

Case of?

I do not recall any kind of screen or filter in the tank of the 94 series tractors. There should be a stand pipe (riser) in the tank so you do not pull fuel off of the bottom of the tank. Be carefull whin checking where the fuel lime comes out of the tank. It is mounted in a rubber grommet and can be easly damaged.

Make sure the screen in the lift pump is not full of junk that con cause problems. CHANGE FUEL FILTERS.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!
