Cat 3406

We just got a brand new Cat 3406 engine in at our plant. It's bright red and still in the crate. Going to be used on a fire protection pump system.



You should see the paint job on this engine - glossy as a new truck!



Does anyone know anything about these engines?

we run the 3406 in about all of our trucks havent had any problems with them.

There is alot of 3406 engines out there they also make a 3408 its a V8. I use to work in the parts department (driver) at an International dealer i use to go to Cat and pick up engines every now and then. One day i asked the guy there to set a 3406 turbo and all on the scale there it weigh over 3 thousand pounds beter stap that baby down good :-laf

My uncle has 3406s (425 HP) in both of his '89 377 Petes. Both have 1mil. miles+ on the clock. One has a rear main seeping, but that it as far as problems go. He has had the trucks for a couple of years.



We just got a '99 T-800 KW at work with a 460HP C-12 Cat. HUGE improvement over an E-7 Mack.
