Howdy, I'm new to this forum... although I'm not new to CTD. My '94 proved reliable and bullet-proof. I recently bought a new '05 2500 QuadCab 4x4, G56, 3. 73's... I've heard that deleting the Cat and muffler will either throw codes or 'de-fuel' the engine. Is there any truth to either of these rumors? Will deleting Cat and Muffler provide any mileage/performance enhancement as in the early 2nd Gen trucks? Also, was told that I needed a module with 'boost fooling' to delete Cat and muff? Any input would greatly be appreciated.

I deleted the muffler and purchased a performance muffler. No noise problems as it did not change the sound much. Did not remove the cat.

When the third gens first came out and guys started installing 5" exhaust systems w/o any other mods, they found that H. P. actually went down on the dyno. Seems the boost was building too fast or too high and the computer was defueling.

You may run into the same thing unless you have some kind of boost fooling.

mileage?

Lethat injection,

By cutting off the Cat and Muffler, did you notice any difference in mileage? I realize it will be louder, but I'm deaf anyway! :D

boost fooling?

Is there a box available that just 'boost fools'? Has anyone had problems with the '600' CTD, stock minus Cat and Muffler?

When I deleted the cat and muffler, I found that the turbo spooled faster and I had better low end response. I thought the cat was plugged up, it had turned blue from the cat to the turbo and was silver from the cat back. I also installed a aftermarket muffler to tone it down.

Mark I have been thinking about doing the same thing that Fararms is talking about but I didn't totally understand your post. Are you putting in a cat test pipe and changing the muffler? and if so how is the sound?

thanks in advance

Dave
