Recently purchasd 07 5. 9 that is totaly stock and was looking for help in the exhaut department. I really apologize if this is a stupid question but should I go with a 5" cat back or a 4" turbo back. Any info would be helpful. Thanx!!!

If you want to stay in compliance with federal law, do not change anything from the cat forward.

The two choices you asked about, are about equal as far as performance.

The 5" sounds and looks better, the 4" is equal in performance, and is less $.

Welcome to an excellent forum.

Since you've got a cherry '07 5. 9, you're treating her the way she deserves by joining this website.

Before spending $$$$ on mods, browse info in SEARCH forum feature.

For exhaust, start with keywords "muffler elimination pipe" and select search titles only.

Many other keywords will also work for exhaust research, as you'll soon see.

You'll discover many owners sharing info and wishing they'd invested more time in SEARCH forum before spending mod $$$$.

you're not even going to give him a heads up about what to expect with a straight pipe?

:)Well, I figure if he doesn't like it he can go buy a muffler. I really like the sound of straight pipe in both of my trucks. But I wouldn't have known that if I didn't try it.

Great Info

Thanks folks for all the info really appreciate it. !!! As you can see I can't even start a thread correctly. Got two going ? Please bear with me. Thanks again!!!!

i LOVE the straight thru sound on 1st and 2nd genners... . tried it on my 07 and ended up adding an mbrp muff. didn't sound like a diesel, just loud... . still not happy but works for now.

actually, when you put it like that, starting with a nice straight through system and cutting in stuff later is a reasonable plan.

Straight pipe has a little too much drone for me on the highway.

I went with a 4" Magnaflow system on my early 04. It's perfect for me.

Thanks. It's a reasonable approach, and if he likes it, he saves all the cost of a muffler. But, straight piped is not for everyone.
