JFulford, Your sister sounds like my kinda' gal.

Below 14K sounds like pretty good number and you're doing oil analysis so you'll be on top of things.

Are you doing the transmission oil analysis also?

Awhile back on this forum a well intentioned buyer, JeffinVegas I believe, bought for his colledge bound son, a dead rig for 14K, about your '05 vintage, manual transmission gearbox or clutch was bad as seller claimed.

Instead of requiring seller to repair and add that cost to sales price, buyer closed the deal and had tow truck TOW away instead of wheel lift the 4x4.

He hasn't gotten back to the forum yet re additional towing damage and repair bill, but for certain sure you got a better deal.

My buddy and me have now had 5 different Dodge Diesels, gauging and light modifying each one. The transmission analysis is something I didn't think of. I guess Blackstone could do that also.

No, I really have no other complaints about the truck. It runs and drives perfectly. And I wouldn't have even noticed the cat except for the "interesting weld" near the downpipe.

I bought this truck after looking for 7 months, with even an auto broker I know really well running the auctions for me. This was the cheapest price for the latest model with the least mileage. Not my color, but I can live with it(for sure).

Thanks for the help. I've been a TDR member for awhile, and I'm not sure I could live without this forum!

Just out of curiosity, didn't the window sticker on the vehicle say something like "sold as is" since it was a used vehicle?

Don't get me wrong, if the state law says that selling an emissions modified vehicle is illegal then do your thing to have it made right. Just curious where the liability falls on this one should the question arise.

CSkal,

Yep, it did say No Warranty. Kept the sheet. But from what I've heard here, this is a Federal law/thing and you aren't allowed to pass a vehicle without its original emissions equipment.

I wish I would have noticed it when it was up on the rack but, as mentioned earlier, I only had my 2003 to compare it to.

Sound like a good idea. Better than the Magnaflow 60421 for 446. 95. And I've got a bit of waiting time.

jeff

I dont know what the price you are seeing but if you were on our site that is MSRP. You can find that cheaper thru a vendor on this site or you can go to The Official Site of MagnaFlow Performance Exhaust - Exhaust Systems For Trucks, Suv's, American Muscle, Diesel, & Sport Compact Vehicles click on the buyonline icon. There you will be able to find alot better pricing.

We also have a Diesel Spun Cat Depending on pipe size. We have a

60010 3. 5"

60011 4. 0"

60012 5. 0"

This is what that converter looks like see below:

JFulford, our trucks don't have emissions inspections but they do get safety inspections, and I wouldn't be surprised if that's on the checklist and they could call you on it (obviously depending on who you take it to)

Jeepr,
Still waiting to here from the dealership, but I will have one on there in the next 6 months or so.

2005 Cat

Well, the dealer did take care of it. After confirming with them no less than 3 times that it had a 4" cat on it, the sent it out to their exhaust installers. After driving to Columbia and waiting about 4 hours, it was done. Got under it and looked at it. They had put on a generic 3" cat that I think sells for around $99.

I told the salesman and he told me that he had confirmed with them 4". He was then told by the installer that it "didn't matter" because it wasn't 4" off the turbo. Long story short(too late), they are coming into Saint Louis, picking it up and putting on a 4" cat. I hope.

Thanks for all the input--got me to force the issue with them. Normally I would have just done it myself.
