A while ago my headgasket took a dump, only then did I realize it was common on the 24-valve. It wasn't the compression ring, but rather an oil galley let loose.
Then I find out that the fix is to torque the head to 130#'s, the factory torques it to 75#'s and 1/4 turn. Sooooooooo, if Ida known that BEFORE the gasket went out ta lunch, Ida re-torqued it. I have done it to other freinds 24-valves with good luck so far, only time will tell.
If yer gonna' do it, make sure the engine is cold, 'cause they're stretch bolts, and to do it when warm, the reading would be inaccurate.
