gonna gut the wifes cat this weekend ...

recently did an '03 cobra ...

big punch ... hammer ... viola!!!

are these the same?

crunchy white cloud on startup?

Did mine about 2 weeks ago, I did have to make a coulpe of slits in front, in order to get the cat off, but no big deal. I hate doing exhaust work anyhow. I also installled a MRBP muffler. WOW I am very happy with the sound.

Edit: Sorry, I did not understand your post at first, I did not gut mine; I installed a test pipe it was only about 70 bucks.

Just pull it off set it in the garage nd put in a test pipe.

i agree, i gutted mine and it was a pain. not like a little gasser cat. it was huge. it would be much easier to just replace it.

You can beat it out with a 2'-3' piece of pipe and a sledge. Once you get a few holes in there it will start to come out in chunks. Getting it off is half the battle.

I used a chop saw cut both ends off of factory pipe, then used a 15" long drill bit to drill down through and then a couple of good hits. run a straight pipe through welded back on truck. We have a visual inspection along with a dyno test. Both passed with flying colors. So if anything save the shell for future inspections and they are coming to a state near you.

If you put in a test pipe and add the mbrp muffler the drone will drive you nuts.

You must have a different MBRP muffler than me beacuse I have towed my 13-14k 5er around 8-10k miles with my no cat and MBRP setup and not one complaint from me OR the wife. I would do it again in a heartbeat and would recommend it to anyone...

My mufller came with the dual kit and is where mbrp splits the exhaust into dual.

I had to add a big 4inch straight through truck muffler up to the very front to tame the drone down to a tolerable level. It is @ least 36icnch long and is perfect empty. When loaded pulling 5'ver and boat [23k] all I can hear is my 2 year old saying get out, get out. It drives him nuts also, even after the other muffler added in.

The MBRP tailpipe hangers SUCK!! and are too light for a VW.
