Cat removal

A friend of mine with a 06 CTD is having touble finding a muffler shop that will remove his catalitic converter.

1 Does anyone have any sugesstions?

2 He wants to remove the cat and replace the muffler. Is that a good ideal?

3 How much does the cat restrict the flow?

It was weird, I was laying under my truck right after I got it. Some how my sawzall got it self out of the drawer, put the blade on crawled under my truck and cut the cat out. I was like hey stop don't do that, but it was too late. So I drove down to the muffler shop and had them put in a 4" piece to replace what the saw had cut out. Later I did a whole 4" kit and did it right.

Nope, there's no electrical connection and there's no way the puter can tell it's MIA.
