By now we all know that the new 2004 will as Joe said "A diesel oxidation catalyst (catalytic converter) is employed. " What's the straight skinny on Cat Conv with Diesels? Not wanting to be a bearer of bad news - but I don't think I like that idea - but I understand the reasoning.

CAT

My California verison has a CAT on it. When I get around to it, it is coming off! I am not sure how much it really effects anything but it is just one more thing in the way of the tail pipe. Since all of the 2004's have a CAT taking it off could present a problem. But since only a few states requried it last year, and since we are moving out of California later this year. The CAT will be removed, since Texas doesn't requrie them on 03'.

You are right, a CAT is better than an EGR. However, neither are really needed. It is because you have a bunch of A. . holes in the government that push this crap on the manufacture.

Mine cat and stock muffler mysteriously disappeared and my EGT dropped 250/300 degrees.

Now I have room in EGT to add stage II injectors along with my EZ

When we couldnt get are trucks(gasser) inspected becuse of no cats we pulled the cats out of the junk pile on the side of the barn, heated up the inside and beat the stuffing out of it and basiclly had what looked to be a cat from the out side but was just a hollow tube. Woulnt that work the same if yall are that worryed that yall have to have it on?
