Catalytic Coverters?

Is that a catalytic converter I see under my 05?



If so, has anyone removed theirs, and with what consequences?

Yes, that is a catalytic convertor on your '05. If you search on "+remove +cat" within the 3G forums, you will find a number of threads discussing this topic.

Just took mine off my 04. 5. I'm not sure if it's the same thing or not. I lost my muffler a while back, but taking the cat off made it a lot louder. I like it, but I could see how a lot of people would not. I haven't done much comparison testing yet as before and after, but I like the sound.

I lost mine a long time ago. Straight piped I cooled down about 100 degrees. The cats not hooked to anything electronic. Ditch it and let her flow.

Yep you got a kitty on any 2004. 5 + out there. We have a MBRP performanec replacement muffler that bolts right on and a cat test pipe that bolts on too. If you want quiet keep the kitty, if you like a lot of rumble get the test pipe too! call su if you have any questions etc.

Do you know if the MBRP exhaust for the '05s that is cat back will work on a '03 that has a cat? The CA 235hp trucks in '03 and '04 had cats.

Probably not as the 2004. 5 + had a different turbo casting outlet. If you changed that it will probably work fine, haven't tried it but should work. We do have 2003-04 turbo back system that will work fine with the existing casting already though.

I don't know where you live but in vegas, we are now required to do emission testing. I've been told that all states will go to 07-08 emissions laws. All I am saying if you do remove it. Keep it just in case you have to test in your area in the near future.

The '03s with CA emmissions have cats as I stated above.
