At start up the truck idles like usual, but after driver it and then stopping the idle stays at 1000 RPM's, and will not drop

Ehmmm, that's somewhat confusing for me. Let me explain. I've finally found out how to enable the high idle for every ECM/Truck. Without doubt that higher than normal idle has to deal with the enabled high idle. With my truck, I've never had a problem though.

I'm lead to believe that this 1K Rpm idle thing has to do with how the APPS performs in each single truck. Most likely the APPS needs to be reset / relearned. You know the batterie disconnect thing with the throttle pushed slowly to the floor... .

The second issue is my fuel pump does not go on for the first 5 seconds as it would usually before starting it up

That's an easy one! It's perfectly NORMAL! That's the new software. The new software does no longer run the lift pump for several seconds like the previous ones did. To see if everything works like supposed try to bump the starter, the new SW runs the lift pump like the previous one...

The 1000 RPM idle thing only happens when the engine is cold. Once it warms up, it doesn't do it for me anymore. It does it when it's 60 degrees out. I kinda like the feature.

You may want to check your Intake Air Temperature sensor. I've tried to get mine to high idle after the engine is warm, and it won't happen. If your IAT is bad, it'll also give you crappy fuel milage.

No, the high idle does not have to kick in when the engine is warm. For high idle the ECM looks ( among others ) for the IAT and Coolant temp.

I don't thing that Junior has a IAT problem. What he's seeing has to do with the ECM's software.

I hate to nag, but I'm getting a dual mass flywheel on the 28th. With a little help from Marco and Peter I could have a new clutch set-up by the end of summer.

Dave, Is that a comment or a question? I don't understand. Thanks

What I'm asking is ..... hows the progress going on the catcher for the 3rg gen ecm.

I put a TST plate in my '97, what a difference. Even though the '05 has much more hp and torque, I'm sure it could use a little help to make nicer to operate.

I'm going to hate to get smoked by an ISB without a fuel or timing box.

Dave

Ok Dave, but there was no profile shown with your question. I have a couple of third generation ecm's in route to marco in the next shipment.

I am sure marco will respond with more information.

When Marco can do this magic to the 3rd generations, all will be fine :)

CaTCHER on tap

I've been running a Blue Chip APB with my CaTCHER & modest little Mach 1. 5's for a few weeks now. I just have to say, this trio plays together nicely. Fact is it will fuel heavier than the turbo can handle. With the APB turned up around 1/3 of the way, WOT brings the boost up very fast to about 31psi (wastegate limited) the fuel pressure drops to about 1 psi ( big fuel lines & FASS pump waiting) egt climbs to 1300*, while trailing a thin cloud of smoke. The CaTCHER gets me going in a hurry & when the APB starts fueling it's like lighting an afterburner. It's quite exhilarating but I doubt I'll be doing that very often. I think I could set the wastegate to a higher figure. What's the practical limit with an HX 35? Is 38 to much?

Darkhorse wimpy injector,

Back in the days when I still had the stock turbo I did a lot of testing for the CaTCHER... . Combined with almost every box on the market back then. My HX has seen 50+Psi many times, no damage done. Only thing is that more than 36 Psi with the HX and you're going to heat the air up too much = little to none Hp gain.

You once seemed to be a reasonable person, now... ??? :D :-laf :-laf

You're heading towards the dark side! What have I done? Created a monster?? :-laf :-laf :-laf :{

:-laf enough already, what reasonable driver would want more HP than I'm getting through these  modest injectors? Manly mach 4's might deliver the power more evenly. I think I'd like that, but there's no way I can use all the power the Blue Chip will make. :D Thanks for the tip. I'll fiddle with my boost elbow screw & see if I can get 35 pis. The next time I get hit with an unreasonable though, it will probably have something to do with a hybrid turbo. Oo. This truck is turning out to be a very well manered monster.

I'd like to give you only one advice.

The road you've taken now is slippery, expensive and adictive... :-laf

Power is never enough, you'll never see the end of the road! :D :D :p

You'r right, of course, so I'd better slow down & enjoy the view from here. The voice of reason may come from the accountant :-{} but can you say Dodgezilla? :-laf

Bob And Marco i have emailed you and pmed you about my high idle problems. Any news on what to do.

Marco sent you a bunch of info through email, trying to narrow things down.

Bob i believe i pm'ed you or emailed you on some questions i had.

Philip

Phil, I have not received any email or pm's. We are trying to use a drb tool to check into the high idle. Shoot me an email please
