This should be an awesome upgrade... ... :)

I got my Stock ECM read by the DRBIII scanner at the dealer yesterday and only got one number out of it. I think this is the software number... ?... . ? the right software version?

The tech that did it, ( I was watching over it all ) said that the only number that would come up would be the ECM part number. I believe what he meant by that was each version of software that is in the ECM has its own part number. HE also said that if it got reflashed then a new part number would show up on the scanner. There were no other numbers that showed up.

I think this is what Marco needs to make sure he gets the right programming in it? At first I thought it was just the part number of the ECM, but when I got home and looked at the ECM itself, the number from the scanner was one that wasn't on the outside of the ECM. I hope this is the right number that tells Marco what he needs to know. Did I explain that right?

SW version

GIT-R-DONE

Yes that should be the number.

Altough, I don't need it for a 02 truck like yours. The problems have been for the MY 2001. Having had the help from lot of people here...

Well it looks like we've solved all that SW trouble. I think I don't need the version number any more.

What I need to know is the MY / transmission / EPA or CARB.

For the 01's I need to know if it's an early build -rear drums- or an 01. 5

- rear discs-.

For the sticks I need to know if it's an 5 or 6 speed, ETC or ETH whatever you want to call it.

With those informations and a good ECM, no more problems.

News

I have talked with Doug several times about this one. We're unsure how many would use this way... anyway here it goes.

For those of you having trouble to find a good spare ECM. For those that don't want to wait the time it takes from the order to Doug to receiving the CaTCHER...

Can you be truck less for 5 days?

If your answer is yes then you can send me your ECM directly.

In the price for the CaTCHER is contained the shipping from ADT to me and back. That's $ 60 US. That will be discounted to you.

The shipping from the States to me and back is average about $130 US.

( Depends where you're located. )

At the end you'll spend $70 US more but you don't need to find (and buy) an spare ECM. Most of all you get it FAST. 5-6 days... If you ship it on Monday, you will receive it back Friday ( latest ).

What do you think?

If you're interested please contact Doug @ ADT.

Thanks for your attention.

Money?

There are several reasons for which I'm doing what I'm doing.

Believe it or not, money isn't in that list...

Money is only a sideproduct.

Marco, I was kinda worried that there would be a descrepancy with mine as I think its and early 02 model. Didnt want any mix up between an 01. 5 and the 02 models. ( If there are any ) Just want you to have as much information as possible for you to make the right decesions, when it comes time. Thanks

Kudos

I believe that this is an appropriate place to post this as it relates basically to the CaTCHER.

I want to publicly acknowledge a particular individual on this website that imbodies the spirit of what this group is all about. Richard (Darkhorse), it is people like you that make this group of diesel truck enthusiasts/fanatics so great. Never have I been a part of a group (and that includes the NWBombers who are a chapter of TDR) that is so willing to help one another, and Richard you are an absolute representative of that and a pay-it-forward kind of a person.

What did Richard do you ask? Well, I will tell you. Let us just say that an individual needed a really quick turn-a-round on a CaTCHER from Marco. Richard on his own, not really knowing all of the details and without being asked, voluntarily sent his own backup stock ECM to Marco to be CaTCHERized via Express UPS (at a cost of $90+ I'm sure) so that said individuals needs would be taken care of faster in order to meet some timelines of the individual who is leaving on vacation next week.

That about says it all as far as I am concerned.

Gosh, talk about dragging a tow in the dirt. Really it was Marco's idea to use it in your truck. Since there's no way I'd be happy putting my old fueling program back in the truck, I wanted to do something creative with the , now spare, ECM. I asked him about using it for a core for someone else. He said , send it express & he'd program it for your truck right away. I just did my part & said "right away. "

Magic?

Does magic exist?

I think most of us would agree to say; NOT.

Well let me tell you something. Magic words do exist! And they work too!!!

A few examples? Please, I beg your pardon, I'm in trouble, I need your help,

Could you PLEASE help me and when it's all done THANK YOU.

I'm sure you know many more.

Those words will open every door you knock on.

Customers that use those words to introduce themselfes in any company will receive anything possible to help 'em out. No matter what it takes.....

Got the picture? :D

Marco

Thinking about it...

KatDiesel will receive his ECM today.

Will it work this time?

I bet a beer it will.

Any takers? Oo.

Marco

Jeez, I didn't think that I had hijacked this thread with my maudlin comments..... Let's pickup the chatter about this great product! TTT

Roger

Marco, this maybe a little early to ask you, but how are the ECM's for the 3rd generation coming???

Murle,

that's a very good question!

I've already done some tuning on them and think that something like a "Third Gen CaTCHER " is not too far away. With all the tuning I've done on the second gens... . The Common Rail SW looks somewhat uhm... could I dare to say, Known?

What I need now for the next step in R&D is a CR ECM to play with. I'm searching but without result. Sooner or later... .

Marco

Good to know Marco, I have had some of the 3rd generation truck owners drive my truck and the are wanting one for their trucks. Hope you can find a CR Ecm.

Okydoky, Roger. ;) I logged another 300 miles & filled for another 19. 35 mpg. My Ram's getting as good milage as my old sluggish Subaru 1800 got.

My new improved cc works every bit as good as new, maybe even better. No more than 1/2 mph varience over uneven terrain.

Got into a little tet a tet with a super charged Impala. I was just trying to keep from getting in his way really  I guess the old guy wanted to show off his new ride. Funny thing was I didn't realize we were racing 'till I decided 70 was fast enough & he was finally able to squeek by me. His passengers didn't look amused :-{} , :-laf
