Richard,

have you already installed the new clutch?

Not yet. I'm looking for a shop that has the proper equipment to resurface the flywheel. SB says it needs a surface grinder not the more common lathe. It's a good thing I have those tiny mach 1. 5 injectors  & light right foot. :-laf still, even with only 2/3 throttle I've had more than one passenger's eyes  :--)

remember?

I don’t expect you to remember me. But I e-mailed you a few times way back when and before you even started selling the up-dated ECM. I was the guy with the 02 HO that had a very bad cold weather miss. It still hasn’t gotten really cold hear yet but I am all most 100% sure that you fixed my shudder. It has been cold enough to make my truck act stupid and so far it has been awesome. The weatherman in St. Louis says it’s going to get colder so I will keep you posted if anything changes. For anybody with a truck that has a lot of drive line noise around 1500 rpm in 5th and 6th gear this ECM has cured my truck from drive line noise and a cold weather miss. And to think I was going to trade it in on a new one it this didn’t fix it.

Thanks again Marco

Chris

:D

Mine was doing the same on cold morning starts and would set a 1690 code every time. Since installing the caTCHER no light and no code also idles smooth.

What In The **** Are You Guys Talking About And Reflasing The Pcm For What And What Code Is Cracked? What Are We Gaining Here I'm Curious.

It's the ECM not the PCM. The reflash is Marco's MAD CaTCHER fuel & timing program. The program adds power similar to the Edge EZ but spools much faster. That results in a very impressive improvment to throttle responce.

Marco, just curious if you came up with a sticker for on the back window or something that says its your product/programming. Maybe have a competition and guys can submit there own ideas. What do ya think?

Hi gang,

I've been swamped last week... have not had much time to play with you lately, isn't it? :{

Chrisw, WHERE OH WHERE have you been??? I don't remember you? Sure I DO!

I've waited for your report for a long time! The surge/stumble/miss/studder

so many people complain about is FIXED????? R U sure?

Now THAT would be GREAT news!

As I had told you, the flash chip in your ECM was bad. I could read it correctly only after several attempts. The miss was caused by the bad chip, or is it fixed due to the CaTCHER itself ( I'd say the fuelling tables)? Who knows...

Well if I get another ECM with the "miss" complain I'll simply swap out the Chip... that + CaTCHER... et voilà! Oo. Oo. :D

azpete,

You had the "miss"? PLEASE provide me the numbers from your ECM! I'd like to see if by any chance your ECM had a bad chip too. That could rule out the chip as being or not responsible... . Thanks

A Sticker? To tell you the truth, NO I've never thought about it!

C'mon, first you don't want to know the dealer that your ECM has been played with, now you want to tell everybody??? LOL

"Beware truck has been hacked by Marco"

Coooool! My name on your trucks? I'd be honored! :-laf

What about " CaTCHER me if you can" ? :)

Ciao,

Marco

Ok I have been watching this for a while and I have a question. Will the catcher affect the longevity of the VP44? It won't cause it to fail earlier than it should? I know it's a gamble with the VP44, but I would go crazy if I put in a catcher and the VP44 went belly up. Marco, do you have enough ECM's yet or do I have to find one to send to you? Put my name in the hat for a sticker when I get my catcher. I like the suggestion of " This truck had been hacked by Marco".

Marco, the ECM I sent was a spare and is working great. The problem I am having is caused by something else. Sent you a PM.

The window sticker idea sounds great. We need a contest to pick a winner.

The CaTCHer ecm does not overdrive the vp44 like a pump wire tap fueling box.

I think this thread needs to be toned down a touch... I've been trying to sort out all the usefull info from the jabbering and I'm not getting very far.

Here is what I'm trying to find out:

•Has the catcher been updated in any way since it was released?

•Are there any un-addressed problems left?

•With just the mods listed in my sig, how much of a smoke increase will I see?

•What is the average max increase in HP? I read 15hp somewhere? (I know that the purpose isn't to increase max HP... just curiouse).

I plan on ordering mine tomorrow if my concerns are addressed.

I can't speak for Marco, but I think he's worked out the right soft ware for every existent variation out there (12 or so in 2001 alone). He's even fine tuned it for high HP rigs with twins & comps. I think you can expect about 50 hp over stock ecm programs, similar to an EZ but what will really get you :Ding will be the change in throttle responce. With stock injectors, smoke wont be much of an issue. Remember though, you have to learn to roll into the throttle at the right rate. If you listen real close, you may hear the Cummins voice change when it starts to smoke. It's pretty cool.

chris , I answered your pm :)

The 50HP increase is correct, 15HP is a joke :(

***Just noticed this thread was started exactly 5 months ago

and for my truck, I have had zero problems since the install. we have all read of the other concerns so all I can address is my experience and what I have heard back which some time concerns the wait to start light.

Just put mine on.......

OK help me - but it runs so strong I don't think I'll need the comp - I mean the difference with comp off is HUGE in comparisson to what I had before. It Fuels REAL fast and almost no smoke - now if I turn box on and go above 2 x5 smoke is a real issue. I do now have TURBO BARK if I'm not careful! AND the Boost Gage will really fly.....

LOL! Sounds good man. About the smoke: I need some more smoke, so I was hoping it was noticeable... going from my smoke belching first gen to the dainty puffs this truck puts out is hard for me! :D
