Hello. Im starting to like the idea of getting one of the ecm’s but im a little confused on difference between the catcher and the mad ecm. Are they the same thing? I want it to give me a timing advance and also give me full fueling at as low or rpm/boost as possible. Im running a tst powermax3 and I just put on an httb2 with 12cm housing. Its extremely laggy on bottom end. Injectors are defiantly going in but im not sure what I want to do first. Would a set of 100hp injectors or the catcher give me more fuel at low rpm/boost ??

The MAD CaTCHER ECM are one in the same thing. It is the way to get things spinning fast. The CaTCHER works very well with injectors at least up to Mach 4 or so. It will also play very nicely with your TST unit.

thanks,

did u get your injectors or the catcher first?

Either would be a good choice. If you're looking at injectors, try the Mach series, many people have had good results. Either way, if you don't have transmission mods (clutch), make sure your transmission can handle what you're throwing at it.

so will injectors give me better low end? im very interested in the mach series. . and the next purchase i make is going to be a dual disk. . I’m just very interested in the catcher. But I do defiantly plan on a good set of injectors… ;)

The CATCHER is just going to make the injectors better, but the injectors would make the CATCHER better as well. If you're planning on doing both anyway, I really don't think it matters. However, as has already been said, the CATCHER is easier to install and cheaper too. What you have to remember about low end power is that added fuel will give you additional power... to a point. Obviously, the more of that fuel is burned, the more power you will make. My point is that the power won't really start to come on with any modification until the turbo lights.

This being said, added to the fact that you don't presently have a timing device, I would say go with the CATCHER first. The modified timing parameters in conjunction with changes to how and when the fuel is delivered should allow the turbo to light faster and increase responsiveness.

as my truck is now the htb2 is lighting untill about 2000 rpm and im getting now smoke at all :( And with the way my tst doesn’t fuel until boost is already going I think some lower boost fuel would help spool the turbo just a little sooner, but then I don’t really know.

I had a HTB2, with a caTCHER and 180hp EDM's, and a TST... it is a CRAZY combo. Spools VERY QUICK!

Invest in the caTCHER and a mild set of injectors, you won't believe the power!

It should. As I said earlier, either would be a good choice. But being you want a lot of responsiveness improvement, the CATCHER would probably be the way to go right now and then you can add the injectors. With the injectors and no CATCHER, you will get more fuel, but it will come on when the stock computer tells it to. With the CATCHER, the timing and fuel delivery patterns are changed so as to improve responsiveness. Then when you add the injectors, the combo will be amazing.

I initially added the CATCHER alone without any other mods (save exhaust and intake). When I was done, I thought I was driving a completely different truck. The change was incredible. And it will smoke... not like crazy like a huge rolling cloud... but you'll get a nice puff (maybe more with your setup). I can't really compare that with what I have now because mine always smokes, but hopefully this helps anyway.

It was a 62/12. I was able to hit well above the 1600* mark... :-laf

I am no longer running the TST (never really used it, just for play)

1600* every now and then is OK, just don't want to maintain those temp for long periods of time.

No 1/4 mile times, and my dyno numbers were something like 460 I believe. I have a miss/stumble that I have been trying to track down and have not been very successful as of yet.

And now like I said, just running with injectors and ecm. Perfectly happy with the quick response.

If you can find someone local with an ecm, try to test drive it. Driving is believing!

if u had to start over and could only buy one thing at atime wich would you get first? catcher, or injectors. and lets say u already have a tst and a big turbo :D
