I just received my Rip's 4" turbo back exhaust today. Oo. I have a few questions. I do have to have at least the shell of the cat due to inspections. Has anyone just run a straight pipe through the cat after gutting it? This would take care of the turbulence issues that I've read about. How hard is it to make the 3" entrance 4"? Also, Rip's muffler says to install it with the little louvers facing forward. What happens if they are facing back? It would seem that the muffler would be a little more free flowing.

My wife says she is a TDR widow!:p

i'm not sure about the cat, but installing the muffler backwards will be basically like straight piping it. I have rips system straight piped and don't have any drone.

I had the cat off my 96 and the only thing inside was one screen type baffle, not at all like the cat on my jeep or car. Is this normal or should there be something else? Nothing seems to be burnt out. Looks more like a spark arrester.

I took the cat off when removing the rest of the exhaust. It does look like a screen, but on both ends. I'm sure there's more in the middle. Pretty gunked up, hard to see through. The exhaust smells different now.

My 12 valve 1998 ISB cat was massive filled with real fine holes thru it. It took me an hour to break it out with a steel bar. Seems like it was a foot thick!
