I never had gone down this slippery slope before. Of course it all may be tied to this divorce thing I am soldiering through. Having to sell all my other toys and stick with one vehicle for a while meant it was going to have to be upgraded:-laf That, and there is no longer somebody poo-pooing my desire to extract some extra from my truck
When I bought this truck it had already been straight piped. I figured, if it going to sound tough, then we need to back it up a little. I started thinking mild, maybe a Quad XZT tow box or an Edge EZ. That quickly fell to second for the standard QZ box good for 100hp and 200lb/ft. I'm not ready to start on the rest of the drivetrain so I held myself to that box. In go the gauges, then I find that EGTs are getting too high, I have to watch too closely, and don't use the 100hp setting often. I try the swiss cheese airbox, not enough. I broke down and ordered an S&B intake system and a CFM intake horn to get some more flow through on the front end.
Scary thing is, I drove a 2500 Hemi for a while thinking it would be enough to fill my need for speed. Couldn't do it, had to go back to a Cummins. Now it has gotten so bad I feel like the stock settings are just too weak for passing around here:{
Hopefully I can now resist further mods. A bigger turbo sure sounds nice and so do bigger injector nozzles. My wallet just can't take that kind of pain right now. So to those thinking about it... BEWARE, it is really hard to stop!
