One of my pet peeves using some caulk and eventually throwing the rest away as it has set up. I have tried the bolt in the tube, squirting some out and letting it set up and the Harbor Freight caulking saver ends. Pretty much all failed and I wind up cutting the tube open to scoop some out then wrap the tubes in saran wrap to let it set up. Has anyone ever figured out a way to save the unused caulking ?. I would like to go to my grave knowing I conquered this life long dilemma.

No, I have not figured this out either. I just figure that it is easier to just used what I need and throw out the rest. I will also try and buy small tubes if possible but not always.

If I could get away using my wife's food saver (vacuum packer) I would try this, but she would kill me she if I got caulk in her food saver.

Ive been using the smaller tubes that are about the size of a toothpaste tube only plastic, at least your not tossing out as much.

Guess no one has a magic bullet on this. I would bet I have thrown more away than I have used and it looks like that will continue sorry to say. The main place I use caulking is on the RV, shower, sinks and exterior so it is spotty at best. I wonder if a food saver would actually work. Maybe a large freezer bag and a shop vac if I could get a good seal.
