Wind/Weather Question

seat removal

 I want to install a CB radio in my 08 6. 7. Where do you run the cable through the fire wall? No Rapid City truck stops know anything. How do you recomend mounting the antenna? Know of a CB shop that sells mounts? I used to do business with a shop located at Jubitz in Portland OR but have been unable to find a phone number. Thanks Rick

Just get yourself a Wilson roof mount and drill a hole in the roof, run cable down the passenger side B pillar and up to your radio/ amp... . good to go !!

I mounted my antennae on the truck bed. I once had a magnetic mount on the roof and it removed the paint over time and created rust problems. I mounted the antennae on my 6. 7 at the front left corner of the truck bed on an angle mount, available at any truck stop. I ran the cable down through the stake hole in the bed and under the truck through the rubber plug located under the driver's side passenger seat. Then under the carpet and on to the radio. My radio is mounted on the center console between the seats.

Wilson 5000 mag base

I have more antenna than you will more than likely need but they make different models. I have a mag base Wilson 5000 with a 62in stinger. As for a way into the cab my cb guy said not to run it thru firewall (1) to close to ECU of truck(2) my coax is very large I run a Texas Star DX 500 v kicker on my CB the coax is to shield the CB from the electronics of the truck. Can cause allot of problems with high power equipment. I pefer not to take a chance with any CB stock or high power. And I dont want a cable across the floor from dash to CB. The way I got mine in was put the antenna just in front of the 3rd brake light on the roof went to Home Depot and in the electric department they have wire holders for wires like phone, computer, stereo they look like a letter C but with a tail on the bottom part of the C you slide the coax into the C and take the tail of it and I slid it into the gap of my rear sliding window down the back of the cab between the cab and the bed of the truck and into the floor in the back seat. My truck had a knock out that I drilled a hole into for my airbag control and for my coax for the CB ran it under the carpet and under the front seat to the CB just put a rubber grommet around the cable so the metal wont cut it and seal it all up with a dab of silicone. Hope this help you it works for me. Looking in the rear view you dont even see the coax. As for rust take the antenna off and wax your truck once in awhile and it wont happen.

I bought my CB stuff from 2 places this past September 09. My radio and antenna were purchased locally here in KC. My coax and hood/fender mount I purchased online from Walcott CB. The CB I choose was the Cobra 29WX NWST. The back lighting matches the factory gauges and the NOAA weather channels are a plus. The antenna is a Firestik FS4 4' top loaded tuneable tip. It is supposed to match up with the NOAA real well. The coax from Walcott is the 18' fire-ring with the removable tip. With the removable tip it threads through the firewall nice and easy. The hood/fender mount is from Walcott also and it is the AUDODGE2. It's for the 2004 thru present day Dodge trucks.

I threaded the coax through the firewall sorta behind the master cylinder. There is a boot just below the hood line where a wiring harness passes thru the firewall. I made a small slit in the boot and passed the coax (with the removable tip) right thru, no pro-blem-o. I had some other accessories ran thru the boot previously and there was no more room for the coax unless I cut the slit. You may be able to run yours thru without cutting. I've taken some pics of the truck and setup (7 photos and 2 posts). If you look closely you can see the coax on top of the boot near the tape measure I used as a pointer. The CB is attached with velcro to the sport console... hope this helps.

Jack in Alaska

They are the stock wheels and tires that came with the truck when I bought it new. LT235/80/17 General Ameri-Trac's. One in collage and one getting ready to go, I'll be living off mac & cheese and riding on re-treads before nice wheels and tires ever show up on this truck (lol).

cb shops

found a place on the internet a while back that may be worth lookin at, RADIOACTIVERADIO. COM they tell you right up front they are not the cheapest and also warranty their radios for life. my radio hasn't quit yet so i haven't experienced any of their claims first hand.
