new RV purchase?

I need a little help in decideing where to locate my new Firestick CB antenna.

I have a 99 Ram 3500 with a Lance slidein. I purchased Firestick's mounting bracket that fits between the hood and fender with the intention of installing the antenna on the driver side forward enough of the camper overhang so that it will have sufficent clearance (about 24 inches).

However, after perliminary placement, I am concerned that the camper will interfere with the signal since the antenna (3 ft ) is totally blocked by the camper from the rear.

Will this be a problem?? I will appreciate any advice.

Sounds like I have the same mount as you do and have it in the same location, 2nd bolt foreward of the windshield. I have not had any problems transmitting or receiving with it in that location. The range is better foreward but I have been able to talk to people behind me. I too have a Lance.

Ant. mount

I ran with a little magnetic mount in the center of the roof of cab while pulling a fifth wheel, had the same experienc as above. A longer whip might improve your reception. bg

try this

i have a 1030 11' lance since iam into ham radio try this

mount a mirror mount on the camper luggage rack

run coax down the refigerator vent into the back coverarea

terminate coax with a so 239 connector then into barrell

connector , from barrell add 2nd so 239 connector and new lenght of coax into truck then to cb

id o this and use the barrell as the splice

i keep the coax end in the refrig cover vent cover you will have to

cut a small hole so not to pench the coax and store it in the

refigerator area when not in use camper stored

i do this with a vhf antenna and it works great

The best arrangement is the one the truckers use. They use a dual antenna and mount one on each mirror of the truck. Of course you have to have the permanent mount towing mirrors to have a place to mount the brackets for the antennas. You get good signal in both directions.
