Wheel Bearing Pack.... How hard is it??

Automatic Transmission, How to Use Overdrive

I have a 03' 3500, towing a 34' fiver. I want to place a CB antenna under the hood using a bracket that I saw that is made for that. Has anyone used that type of installation. I know that the roof mount is better, but I don't want any holes in the roof. I also understand that mounting the antenna in a stack hole is okay, but when I am towing my fiver this cuts down on the input. I was using a magnetic type, but I don't like it on the paint.

There is an antenna that mounts to the fender well under the edge of the hood like you are describing and it has been discussed on here with pictures. I tried to find using "search forums" but it must not be working. I think Bill Stockard was one of the people using the antenna. bg

Thanks, I have seen the antenna on other Dodge trucks. I was just wondering how well they work. Most of the time when I see them, they are either moving or they are parked with no driver around.

The link that Pawpaw provided is the Stainless Steel mount that I have used the past 8 years. Works well and meets my needs. It only fits 1994 through 2004 models so I guess I'll have to find a new solution for the next tow truck.

Will this mount/antenna work with a slide in truck camper?? Which bolt is it mounted too under hood?

Had a bracket to hold my 2 ft fire stick under hood/fender on my 94 truck. Took some time but got one from Radio Shack to fit my 06. works good. Have a canopy so can't use bed and don't like to drill holes. I also use about a 4 inch spring just in case I hit some brush.

First bolt on driver's side which places CB ant. approximately parallel to radio antenna. There is a second bolt about 12 inches closer to front that could be used; I don't know if this would be a distraction while driving, you would have to check that out.

I have used the fender mount for my firestick for some years on several different trucks. It seems to work fine for me. They are available from most stores that sell firestick products. The one I have on my truck now is SS and bolts to the last fender bolt under the hood on the drivers side.

If your camper isn't metal, you might be able to use the extended stakehole mounts:

Stake-Hole Mounts

I have a fiberglass shell on my truck, so I have two of them holding a pair 4ft Firestiks.

FS "USA" Antennas

Coax into the cab was super easy using this:

3-Piece Co-Phase Harness

This setup works very well for me.

Lance Camper will most likely hang over bed rail too far for this to work. I may need to mount on camper with a no ground plane antenna?

I will also eye ball the under hood mount if it can clear the overhang of camper... .
