I need info on cb antennas for my truck. I will be pulling a 5th wheel so I need clearance for the trailor. What is the best style, placement, ect. . thanks for any help1 Oo.

I'm installing a 4' firestik II tommorow. It will go on a firestik extended stake hole mount (no holes to drill/ allows for cover or toolbox). Many others use the fender bolt mount by the same company.



I need help for tommorows install!!! How do I get to the rubber grommets on the lower back side of my regular cab???

Antenna mount

I'm very happy with a Firestik on the S. S. fender mount. Recently caravaned round trip to N. C. with others and found this set up, with "stock" 4 watt out-put, had at least a 5-6 mile range. Routed coax thru same grommet in the firewall as all my gauges. Clean install and suits my needs well. Have Fun Jim G.

Unless you concerned about using your CB at absolute max range, you could use a "through the glass" antenna (Radio Shack). I have them mounted in the rear window (one on each side) and I've used them for my CB and for my dual band ham radio, and they work fine. They only stick up a about 18-24" inches. I only use the CB when caravaning and have never lost contact with others in my party, unless they get several miles ahead or behind. If you looking for maximum performance, the firestik is a good antenna.

I run, co-phased (two) 4' Wilsons mounted on the fender with the special SS mount. They work great! Many people feel that a single antenna will out talk a co-phased system. I have found that to be untrue! I have run co-phased antenna since the 70's and have taken the same radio on a single antenna and on a co-phased sytem. The co-phased system always talked better and was better receiving also.

I just installed it. I went out through the grommet in the firewall and along the frame to the bed. I love the red antenna on the black truck, BUT I think I should have only used a 3' antenna. The 4' fiberglass whip is HUGE.

Now I have to work on my cb mount. It is currently mounted on my ash tray. The only problem is the ash tray won't stay up under the weight of the radio. Trying to figure out a nice way to disable the ash tray, either bolt or glue.

Oh yeah. It talks good too.

I should have mentioned, I use a brolin mount and love it, but Michael has "retired'' from producing them . Unless that has changed recently you may need to locate a used one. It is worth the trouble. Jim G.

I've heard a lot of good reports on the kx40's. Anyone on here play with them much? I see one guy in town has them cophased on his cummins... been wanting to ask him about them but haven't had a chance yet.



I currently have a cheap pair of fiberglass whips that I'm not at all impressed with. They were a present so I guess I can't complain too much.



I think Steve St. Laurent has a really slck mount for his cb too if I remember right... it replaces the ash tray, or cup holder... . can't remember which now... seems like it was the ash tray.
