Now how does that work with a 6 speed. It will block my cupholders won't it.

It works fine with the 6 speeds and you will lose one of your cupholders with the center mount, however I also have a mount that mounts to the side of the transmission hump and you will not lose any cupholders.

... I have a Cobra with the all-in-one mic-got it from Camping World-they are regularly on sale. The remote mount box is nice and small, all you have around the dash is the cord and mic. I put in an external speaker, the speaker in the mic is a little too tinny sounding for me, it plugs into the remote box. It also has the weather radio... . CD

I have the Cobra 75 unit along with a dual band hf/uhf ham unit. Both of the control units are mounted under my drivers seat and only the mic (for the CB) and the mic and small control head for the ham are mounted on a control stock that sits next to my right leg. I use the glass mount antennas for both units. They won't have the range of the big whip antennas, but they are easy to mount and don't get in the way. I also mounted an external speaker (on the drivers visor) and a switch to control which radio goes through it. If your looking for maximum range and use your CB a lot, you might be better off with one of the regular units and an external antenna. My setup works fine for what I use it for, but I wouldn't win any long distance contest... :D

Here is a picture of one of the CB/Ham Radio mounts I make. I make them for all 3rd Gen trucks.

If interested email or pm me.

That is my TRC-484 CB and mount. The Radio Shack radio is at least 12-13 years old, maybe more. Think it cost in the $40 range. It had been on a shelf in the garage for years before I decided to see if it still worked. Bought a Midland Window Mount antenna and small external speaker mounted between the 4x4 shifter and dash. Not going to blow any drawers off, but works fine for me on the road.

I bought some stuff for a friend and myself from www.claysradioshop.com. I bought my Cobra 29series w/weather from Amazon.com. Probably should've bought the radio from Clays and had them tune before delivery. If you're only looking at Bombvoy communication the smaller cheaper units should work great. My friends have gassers. I needed the longer range to reach them. They tend to fall behind on hills. The weather channels work great for me in the mountains. Not all antennas are capable of Noaa.

TDR member Big Bob sells a 3rd Gen mount. Here's mine.

Is that one of Big Bob's mounts?

I don't think that is Big Bobs, his mounts the cb against the center seat.

Sorry Wes, Yes it is, that's the new designed mount for the 06 with cupholders on the floor and also full console. This mount can also be used with the 02-05's that have cupholders on the floor. It doesn't interfer with the cupholders.

My bad, thanks for clearing that up for me Big Bob.

How big of a radio will this hold?? Does it "flex" much and vibrate driving down the road??

I like the second one that leans it toward the driver... but it looks like the radio is hanging pretty far out to the point the mount would be flexing??

If you have an 04. 5 and a 6 speed, I would recommend this mount:

If you want the side hump mount, it is solid also. No flexing.

Help! No place to mount my CB in my new 07 with full console!! Any ideas? Its a Connex with a kicker built in so it has cooling fins on the bottom. Heavy radio so I need a good mount. Thanks

There are a lot of different solutions to this problem. I'll give you mine. My truck has both a CB and a Dual Band shortwave radio. I bought radios that could be remotely mounted (under the drivers seat) and the mic/control heads are mounted on a flexible stock (you can find these in stores that sell car stereo equipment and are sometimes used to mount a cell phone). This stock is mounted to the driver's right front seat mount bolt. The CB is a Cobra 75WX ST and the control face you see is my dual band radio. The Cobra is a good radio for normal operations, but there are better ones out there if you need maximum range and power. You can see the CB mic/control on the lower left of the stock. All the controls for the CB are mounted in the mic. The mic on the right is for the Dual Band. Both of these radios use "through glass" mount antennas, which aren't the best for long range, but do an adequate job without have to mount whip antennas somewhere on the body. These are mounted on the back window. The flexible stock allows you to move it around for best fit and all this is totally removable when not needed or the truck is sold. This is not the only solution, but does give you some options to look at... :)

I use an Big Bob mount on my 05 and it's great... (Thanks Bob) I have a Cobra 29 w/weather and a bed mount antenna... order from Clay's and had him do the performance upgrades. I just called him up told him what I wanted and where I wanted my antenna mounted and he took care of the rest and at a good price also. I ran an external speaker under the dash and used heavy duty velcro to mount the CB that way when I'm cleaning my truck or need to get in the dash and things I can just move it out of the way.

I didn't need any aftermarket brackets. Just went down to the local cb shop and bought the Uniden 520 pro and a 4ft. Firestick with the hood bracket. Went in fast and I couldn't be happier with the placement.

I like the mount in the above mount. :D

Im thinking about replacing the mag mount Wilson i now have with that one.

Problem is there are no cb shops, that I know of, in So Cal where I could go to and get the mount off the shelf.

Iv got to order it online. #@$%!

FWIW, you'll lose performance changing from the roof mounted wilson to the fender mount.

Just something to be aware of...

I realize Im going to lose performance.

Its getting to be a PIA when I go into low parking structures and have to take the antenna off.

The mag I have, isnt removeable like the 500 is.

Might consider a hard mount 500 or similar
