Has anyone seen this mount? I just bought a Cobra 29 series CB. Still haven't decided on a mount solution for an 06'. Link

I had two radios I wanted to mount in easy reach.

I cut a nice piece of 1" ply to fit under the front middle seat, between the inner legs of the front driver's and passengers' seat.

Cut it to the contour of the transmission tunnel and such.

Bolted it between the inner front legs of the driver's and passenger seats.

I used slotted black aluminum flat plates to make the two sides, and bolted those two pieces to the plywood that's now under the middle seat.

I made a hole in that plywood piece to run the coax and power to the radios.

Mounted the radios to the slotted sides.

And that's it, very clean and adjustable mounting options.

I could level off the faces of both radios, and tuck them up close to the seat right by my right hand.

My company has used mounts similar to those and they rattle loose very quickly and need constant adjustment to keep in place. Just my . 02.

I built something similar to your mount for my 96'. However, the layout on my 06' 6spd is very different from your 2nd Gen auto. On my 96' your type of setup worked great.

wcjp,

I haven't seen an 06, sorry.

Yup, I'm going on 6 years and it's a stout setup , and the price was right, I had everything in my stock pile.

My truck had one like that I think. There's marks on the carpet from a base like that.

I just mounted a Uniden PC66 in my truck. I just make a big "U" out of some scrap steel I had and screwed it to the transmission hump. Didn't cost me anything and took maybe 2 hrs at most.

wc,

I have yet to get intimate with a 3rd Gen, but here's what I did with mine.

I cut the overhead panel flat with a band saw and screwed the mounting brackets to the inner roof panel with some of those self-drilling screws. If I'd been more careful with my measuring, I could have cut it where it fit better in the back of the radio and covered my power wires and coax.
