CB mount problem

I am switching to a mount on the drivers side fender. The kind that mounts under the edge of the hood. The issue is that it does not seem to fit between the hood and fender w/o hitting hard on the edge of the hood.



Has anyone had this problem??

I have the firestik fender mount ,I installed it without any problem

I have this mount, it has worked well. I used the bolt closest to the door

You may need to adjust the hood hinge slightly to increase the gap between the hood and the fender. Normally there is plenty of gap there to accomodate the Firestik Ram mounting plate; at least there was on my 97. Does not work for my 03 however because of the angle of the fender and the position of the available bolts so will go to stake pocket mounts for my cophased setup.

Casey, I mounted my fender mts. under the Batt. brkt. Works fine.

Not really, setting still, they lean forward a little, but moving they look fine.

Well casey I was afraid that I might have to adjust the hinges. Is it easy to do?



They mount I have is not firestik mount as i was not able to get there from the store I use. They have alot of firestik products in stock but for some reason carry a workman electronics mount for this application. http://www.workman-elect.com/products/mounts/ssdr.html It is identiical as far as I can tell to the firestik version .



It does not fit between the hood and fender though.

Ted, they are not the same as the Firestick mt. then, I took these off my 00, and put them on my 03, and they clear the hood fine.

Ted! Go with the stainless steel Firestik

mount they will fit perfect. Another thing

if you can't find them at a CB shop go online

to a CB shop and get them. You may try

Just put the Firestik stake mounts on mine last week. 'Lurch' hooked me up with them; didn't know they existed previously.

Ratlr, Thanks i am going to try to get a firestik version if it still does not work the truck is already hitting the body shop next monday and they said they can make it fit if I need them to. I always try to suport the local guys on any purchase before going to the internet or mail order but I have been very happy with bills when I have ordered from them in the past.

I actually had one of those in the stake mount on the drivers side for a long time and on two trucks but some punk grabbed the top of my firstik antennaand pulled it out and down. The mount bent putting the antenna lug into the side of the bed. Then the brass base of the antenna then snapped, and the person probably fell on his a$$. Mad about that he then hit the antenna into the drivers door. That is how I think it went down and needless to say I was not there.



The reason I am not using that type of mount this time is that in the winter I have a topper on the truck and I have never liked the way it fit under the topper.

If you use the fender mt. 's, make sure and get the coax from Firestick with the Fire Ring connector. It works the best with the fender mt.
